Yes I was hoping that too, I think they usually have lyrics with albums, don't they? I reckon Damien would want us to know what he's singing about, in case we can't tell exactly what he is saying, so hopefully there will be lyrics.

Been listening to this again- It's really beautiful. Has a bit of a Paul Simon feel to it.

And I say you can’t always tell that beggar from the thief, but you know That I love that about you Don’t let this life take it away I've been listening again too, and I really love this song. The lyrics especially, are so touching. .. the wistful hopes of a parent of a young, innocent child. Just beautiful.

I haven't listened to it for ages (ages meaning about a week) but I feel like I have after reading those lyrics. They are really nice. I'm so glad it's a B-side, yay.

The following are the lyrics from the version released as the B side to the single "22 Steps" - slight change in the lyrics from the Today Show acoustic
From this face sees no disgrace shelters my walls and my cries down by the drop where tomorrow got caught opens up all our doors
and I say you can't always tell the beggar from the thief but you know I love that about you don't let this life take it away
from those eyes knows no disguise sees me as summer and rain won't waste the time worry and whine that's what the old folks do
and I say you can't always tell the beggar from the thief but you know that I love that about you don't let this life take it away take it away
and it seems to me not everything is how we planned it to be but in your eyes these are newborn skies well I'll see that same thing in me
From those lips those untrained whips nothing but songs and cheer knows nothing of pain nothing of fear nothing but songs and cheer
and I say you can't always tell the beggar from the thief but you know I love that about you don't let this life take it away don't let this life take it away

I've already written about "22 Steps" itself, so I thought I'd just share my thoughts about the other songs from the special iTunes edition of the EP It's so wonderful to hear a recorded version of "Song for Jarvis". It has the same spare, pure sound we remember from the concerts & now is so crystal clear, the truth in Damien's voice standing out above all - a beautiful song and a sweet and simple version full of meaning.

I agree totally, shims. It's a beautiful version, really carefully recorded. Quintessential Damien to me.

I think Song For Jarvis is Damien at his best. The lyrics to this song are sublime and to be able to write something like this, put it to music and then sing it with such pure emotion is a sign of incredible talent. If you've ever looked into the face of an innocent child you'll understand the emotion behind the lyrics but to express them so beautifully is something not all of us can do.
