This is just for a bit of fun. Hallelujah was to me the ULTIMATE song cover anyone could do. And Damien did it. There is just one other song I would love to hear him have a go of:- "Song For the Siren" performed by Elizabeth Fraser in This Mortal Coil. Lyrics:
On the floating, shapeless oceans I did all my best to smile til your singing eyes and fingers drew me loving into your eyes.
And you sang "Sail to me, sail to me; Let me enfold you."
Here I am, here I am waiting to hold you. Did I dream you dreamed about me? Were you here when I was full sail?
Now my foolish boat is leaning, broken love lost on your rocks. For you sang, "Touch me not, touch me not, come back tomorrow." Oh my heart, oh my heart shies from the sorrow. I'm as puzzled as a newborn child. I'm as riddled as the tide. Should I stand amid the breakers? Or shall I lie with death my bride?
Hear me sing: "Swim to me, swim to me, let me enfold you." "Here I am. Here I am, waiting to hold you."
Incidentally, the song is originally a Tim Buckley (Jeff's Dad) song.
Any other suggestions of non-Australian songs you'd like Damien to cover? I'd also like to hear him sing "If I Were a Carpenter" a great version done by Robert Plant some time ago.

I would really love to hear Damien do a song called "I Hope You Dance". It was originally written for and recorded by Lee Ann Womack but has also been covered by Ronin Keating. It's one of those songs that always gives me goosebumps when I hear it.
I Hope You Dance I hope you never lose your sense of wonder You get your fill to eat But always keep that hunger May you never take one single breath for granted God forbid love ever leave you empty handed I hope you still feel small When you stand by the ocean Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens Promise me you'll give faith a fighting chance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance I hope you dance I hope you dance
I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance Never settle for the path of least resistance Living might mean taking chances But they're worth taking Lovin' might be a mistake But it's worth making Don't let some hell bent heart Leave you bitter When you come close to selling out Reconsider Give the heavens above More than just a passing glance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance I hope you dance (Time is a real and constant motion always) I hope you dance (Rolling us along) I hope you dance (Tell me who) I hope you dance (Wants to look back on their youth and wonder) (Where those years have gone)

"Lilac Wine" and "You've Lost That Loving Feeling" by the Righteous Brothers. Oh, how I love that song. If I ever heard Damien sing it with the way he can emote, I might just be in danger of melting into a puddle. Could we place an arrow to this thread saying, "DAMIEN, PLEASE READ THIS THREAD!!!"

Good god,BG! SQUEEEEEEEEEEEE! These just happen to be two of my all-time favourite songs! We've already heard D do Lilac Wine, and well, it was puddle time , and if he recorded it I would wear it out! You've Lost That Lovin Feelin would be heavenly! I know D is concentrating on his own music, but maybe he can sing them at the concerts?

I went into teh coma on the spot when Damien sang Lilac Wine - There's quite a few I'd love to hear him sing, an acoustic version of a song like "Keeper of the Flame" would suit his voice too I think - of course, it's yet another song that has me in tears, don't know if he wants the whole front row crying but I love these bitter-sweet songs Keeper Of The FlameI'm the keeper of the flame My torch of love, it lights her name Ask no pity, beg no shame, I'm the keeper of the flame Played with fire, I was burned Gave a heart, but I was spurned All these years how I have yearned Just to have my love returned *at this point audience collapses in tears* Years have gone by Still the sparks remain True love can't die It smolders in the flames When the fire is burning out And the angels call my name Dying love will leave no doubt I'm the keeper of the flame Years have passed by Still the sparks remain True love can't die It smolders in the flames When the fire is burning out And the angels call my name Dying love will leave no doubt I'm the keeper of the flame I'm the keeper of the flame.

okay - funny this thread's been revived because i had one of those random Damien moments the other day when i was listening to something and immediately imagined Damien singing it a stripped back acoustic of Queens "Love of my Life". but i think i would need to be mopped up off the floor ... forget the - i'd just melt Love Of My Life Lyrics Love of my life - you've hurt me You've broken my heart and now you leave me Love of my life can't you see Bring it back, bring it back Don't take it away from me Because you don't know - What it means to me Love of my life - don't leave me You've taken my love and now desert me Love of my life can't you see Bring it back, bring it back Don't take it away from me Because you don't know - What it means to me You will remember - When this is blown over And everything's all by the way - When I grow older I will be there at your side to remind you How I still love you - I still love you Back - hurry back please bring it back home to me Because you don't know What it means to me Love of my life Love of my life ... Oooh, oooh... (i like Queen but what Damien is to me and what Paul McCartney & The Beatles have been to me all my life is what Queen is to DH... he hasn't forgiven me for being in the front row of their concert at Wembley in '86 - while he never saw them perform live)

I heard in an interview that when D was in Revelate, the song "Revelate" by the Frames used to be the ending song of their gigs. I'd love to hear him sing it, I think it would be awesome! This is the best video of it I could find, and it's not very good at all ... www.youtube.com/watch?v=Awac0B6Xw8g
