What a glorious love song full of joy, hope and dreams! I feel like he's speaking to me I think that if Damien hadn't told anyone it was for Jagger most people would have thought it was a love song for a soul-mate. Really, it can be interpreted in any way the listeners feel it speaks to them.

I loved this song from the first time I heard it. Bless you again Irishrokit. The lyrics are wonderful and it has such a catchy tune. It should have been the first release, IMHO.

I'm starting to wonder how I could've been so 'meh' about this one now. I was in a bad mood last Sunday. I really love it now, I've woken up the last few days with it playing in my head.
I love the second verse about the broken dream - it's just so gorgeous. There's a really home-y, love-y feel to this song, a momentum, a stability...I don't know enough about music to describe it, but it makes me think of cozy families ;D

When I first heard NJFTW and Alone on the weekend, I loved them both, but I liked Alone more. But then ten minutes later I couldn't remember how Alone went and I had the NJFTW tune stuck in my head for the rest of the day. This was after just one listen of each song, so NJFTW has a very catchy tune.

If this song was on vinyl, I would have worn it out already. You would not believe how many times I've played it.

After reading the lyrics, what works for me is imagining a parent having a conversation with his/her newborn baby:Damien: It can take such a long time and life is not a sure thing. It can walk right passed your eyes like a dream you couldn't keep. Jarvis: But my eyes were open at the right time when you were walking my way.Damien: And I'll take you home. Not just for the weekend. We'll chase the day's light and welcome in the night by one another's side. And I'll keep you warm... I love it anyway but as a conversation it so much more touching. :)What do you think? Nuffy

Interesting interpretation Nuffy. I know it was inspired by Jagger coming home from hospital, however I feel it is a song written about his family in general. I think there are a lot of references to Eils in there (but my eyes were open at the right time, when you were looking my way), and it is a song about their family and how they will forever be connected. I can just feel that post-bringing-baby-home-from-hospital feeling of tiredness, excitement, fear and amazement in the lyrics, combined with Damien's sense of belonging with them all and his desire to protect them (I'll keep you warm). As Hyper said earlier there is a real homey lovey feel to the song. Anyway, those are my thoughts! Love it!

Before the bit in the second verse where he says 'when you were walking my way' didn't make sense, cos I know Jagger can't walk yet This would sound great as a Damien/Eileen duet I was listening to this on the way home from uni and for a second I wanted to just close my eyes and listen, then I went "hang on, you can't, you're driving!" I forgot!

Yes Tina- this is how I hear it too- it's not just about Jagger it's about taking Eileen & the baby home, being a family. The opening lyrics "It can take such a long time and life is not a sure thing, It can walk right past your eyes, Like a dream you couldn't keep." sets the song up for the beautiful sentiments of love, wonder & contentment. I truly love this song and if it's going to be the theme song to a new tv series it better be a good show!
