I LOVE IT I don't know where to start. All the tracks are fantastic. I have a few Favs already........... Alone, Cold, Cold Heart, AIWIY, Songbird, Shine like the Sun, The Long Way Back. yeah..pretty much the whole album. Beautiful I like, but can't stop the tune from the concerts taking over, might take a few more listens for me to be able to forget the other one. But this is just lovely, and even better knowing he wrote it for Eils. Shine Like the Sun is just gorgeous, I can see why it was chosen for the Homicide Detective show. Over all, it's a great fantastic Amazing Album , it's put together really well, one song after the other and squeeee lots of falsettto...... Wonderful to see all the thank yous on the back! another squeeee....DLO and Jo's site got a mention! Can Damien get any more thoughtful! he is just a beautiful man Neski, I also suggested a poll in the Hut earlier on. But have to say, how could we choose just ONE song...there are so many great ones!

I think if 'Beautiful' ended up being the next single it would be awesome if a recording of the original live version could be included, just for nostalgia... hopefully an 'official' recording was done of it! I'm really loving how catchy (in a good way) all of these songs are... after only two listens I'm singing along to large portions of the new songs...

My mind is merging AIWIY and Beautiful together. I'm singing "All I want is you oo oo, you are so beautiful..."

Oh and yes kath - I like the way the lyric book is done too. It's very different to other album books ive seen. I love it - because its different and its kinda quirky. Haha.

I like the lyric book too - it's quirky without being completely unreadable, like some lyrics books that try to be creative.
I like that the back cover of the album has the track titles in really large readable letters, too! ;D

Yes, Kami, I agree about the back - AND you can read the numbers, which is important if you want to pick one track to play. Really can't fault the album hardware at all.

I hope by now I can put some thoughts together, it's been wonderfully overwhelming to hear all the amazing new music all at once! I think the album as a whole is so interesting, it demands to be played again and explored more deeply. I can hear all Damien’s influences merging together and becoming his own sound, and those traces of other influences are sprinkled through in such intriguing ways. Flickers of groove bass progress smoothly into the 'twinkly' delicate keyboards & gorgeous chord & rhythm changes. I was describing the new form of Beautiful the other day (from the glimpses I heard on radio) as giving me images of vivd textures, rich claret silks, a bejewelled salon. I was so curious to see whether I felt the same way on a closer listen to it today and I definitely do. The instrumentation through the fuller sounding songs on this album all seems to share this luscious quality. There's something so velvety delicious about it, echoes of the Craig Armstrong arrangements for the Moulin Rouge soundtrack blended with an Edge-style chiming guitar, with Damien's distinctive voice sweeping through at times almost as an instrument in itself - it's an exciting glimpse for me of Damien's musical ideas and how they are evolving before our eyes. I love the acoustic songs as well as the fuller sounding ones. Early favourites for me from first listening are Beautiful, Blew it All Away and Not Just for the Weekend. I already loved I Still Miss Us, Songbird and Alone. No hope of choosing favourites here. The bonus, Danny Boy is exquisite, I have never in my life heard a more beautiful version and I've heard many, acoustic and otherwise. That one is like an another album on it’s own – totally different and I love to see Damien's other dimensions present in the album as a bonus, not as contained within one concept. I think that this album will cover everyone who loves him – there’s stunning original songs, gorgeous covers and then this absolute jewel to finish at the end. Damien's voice is a treasure in itself, let alone his magical songs. This is not a one-play album, it is to treasure and play again and again and again. A classic!

Shimmery and Andy, I am sitting here nodding in agreement with both of you. Shims, have you posted your review to the official forum yet? If not please, please do so. I think you should also submit it to the Sydney newspapers. You write a much more intelligent and honest review than some of the journalists we've been subjected to in the past few weeks. Huh! And isn't Where We Land going to make some of those jerks sit up and take notice?
