Quite frankly, I don't know what 2 of those judges were listening too there - that was my favourite so far from Damien!
Seriously Damien, I see this forum as doing you no favours if we are not honest with you. We want you to do well in this competition and I will try to be helpful to you in what we say. And I am being honest to say: I loved this week's performance, absolutely loved it!!
Things I loved: MOST of all - I loved the catchy arrangement! Eileen, you were right, that one is going to stick in our minds for ages. It's a totally fresh arrangement.
Next, i LOVED that this week we got a whole song and not a carved up one - they are obviously giving the idols more time to complete the song and at last we can hear some changes happening at a good pace through the whole tune, not just a "highlights" of a song (as enjoyable as those have been).
Well done for being strong up there tonight Damien! You listen to the criticism, are not rude, but you are assertive and stand behind your decisions - I APPLAUD YOU!

I'm in Adelaide and still waiting for it to start in 5 minutes. Which judges criticised Damien?

Well well well - not the best comments from the judges (not liking mark and kyle) - but i love the way damien stuck up for himself and his song choice! 1976 was a great year for births I say well done Damien - i liked the twist that damo put into it, it was different and he was showing us different stuff. Here Here to what Shimmery said!! We shall see you next week!

It was Mark and Kyle
I meant to add before that I also LOVED how much Damien was enjoying this performance, smiling, looking relaxed - a relaxed performer is a happy performer, and helps the connection to the audience which seemed to really be getting into it with him.
Must go - Bobby is on now and he's fab, he's got his groove back!

Thanks for that Shimmery.
My hubby and I loved Damien's performance tonight. Thank goodness I taped it and watched it again because my hubby kept yelling out "yes, brilliant" at the top of his lungs throughout the entire song and I couldn't hear it properly lol.
There was nothing dorky or midday TV about it to me, I found it thoroughly entertaining, Damien looked so relaxed and like he was really enjoying himself on stage tonight and he really upped the ante and took it to the next level with his arrangement. I felt he really connected with the audience and noticed he got a fantastic applause.
The criticism from Kyle and Mark was unjustified in my opinion and I'm so proud of the way Damien responded to their comments. Well done Damien!!!
You're brilliant Damien and I still say the shining star of Idol.
Hugs and well done,
Belinda

My major concern is he was singing right at KICK-OFF during the NRL Grand Final! So many people didn't see Damien this week. I just hope they see the recap and remember to vote to keep the best singer in the show!

I am absolutely gobsmacked that last week they can say , Damien u leave us wanting more, then this week bag him out, Im about to blow a gasket DAMIEN U R ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT never ever dissappoint, knew u wud do elton proud, loved the quirk to the song, is there nothing u cannot do, and as usual kept his dignity but stood up for himself in a very respectful way, never rude, always true to himself, I am convinced holden is sooo jealous has always been critical of our Damo from the word go, tall poppy syndrome has hit hard, I dont usually like bagging other idols, but I am disgusted about the way holden wants his little girl to mould to his own agenda (making money commercial etc etc.) its sooo obvious and pathetic, Damien will be around for the long haul, with or without Idol, he will do the hard yards and remain true to himself and his fans. DONT EVER CHANGE how or what u r doing Damien, ok am getting off my soap box now, smoke has stopped coming outta my nose/ears, going to bed to dream about Damien, teeheee. phew Im exhausted how about u guys.

I think Damien was fabulous and he was pitch perfect! I can't believe the bad comments he got from Mark and Kyle! We watched it back last night and it was great. What was with the 'sick of the ballads'?? that was the reason he spiced up the song so it wasn't a full, heart-felt ballad. I think he was going to get nailed no matter what - if he sang it like the original they would have said it was boring. So, let's just hope that everyone votes for him!

I totally agree with you Eileen. I am confident that he is still going to get lots of votes, but it must be doubly nerve-wrecking for him tonight after last nights feedback from Kyle and Mark and you just never know which way the public is going to go do you. Monday nights must be so hard. On saying that though, he was by far the best last night and there were a few that didn't peform too well in my opinion, so I don't think Damien's got anything to worry about and he will get through to the next round easily. I hope everyone gets behind Damien and puts their votes in though.
Hugs, Belinda

I agree with both of you - Mark and Kyle contradict themselves too much with their comments and I too hope everyone VOTE VOTE VOTES!!

What was with the 'sick of the ballads'?? that was the reason he spiced up the song so it wasn't a full, heart-felt ballad. exactly - sometimes I think the show is all just politics to spice things up and make some drama. It wasn't a straight ballad at all. That said - it's a big stretch to call "Creep" a ballad! And that was only 2 weeks ago!! I heard one of the judges muttering "Bohemian Rhapsody" was produced that year when Damien mentioned it wasn't such a great year for song choices - well, the problem with Bohemian Rhapsody is that it has already been done on Idol previously (and done well) but can you even IMAGINE how they'd jump on Damien if he tried it? It's part of idol to have a certain experimentation, agreed, but it's not part of idol to make a ridiculous choice for your type.

gah - the judges annoy me! one week they say all these nice positive comments and then they turn around and contradict themselves.
Damien did an excellent job!!!
