Not fair at all. I have to wait another four hours here in sunny Perth . Await about his Ben Harper song with some trepidation (I like BH but not my favourite of his), I don't think it's all that well known (could be wrong) and if he plays guitar to it, it might come across as a little simplistic. Think he'll do Alex Lloyd well. The winner's single...who knows, it's usually utter tripe so will probably come down to arrangement skills which, thankfully, Damien seems to be good at. And hey! No disco!! I'm glad Jess is in there with him tonight - she is my second favourite so I won't have to battle a conscience wishing a horrible fate to befall her (had Dean been in there instead, although I think he's a nice boy I may have been secretly wishing for a poorly executed backflip 10 seconds into his first song that would send him flying head-first into a row of collapsible chairs). So I really hope Jess nails it too and doesn't let nerves take over. Looking forward to relaxing and enjoying it.

Its the winners single I'm most nervous about, though I should say that I am nervous every Sunday and Monday I have never liked a winners single. I hate that style of schmultzy power ballad, just cant bear it. I know D has done some work to it, I just hope and pray it will be enough for me....... On another forum I lurk on (heeeeeeeee!) a winners single drinkers game was suggested....which of course, I need no encouragment in playing.... So, over 18's watching tonight, take a drink if you hear any of the following words/ themes in the winners single: - hopes, wishes and or dreams....
- flying, launching, taking flight, going to great heights...
- the journey, path or road...
- achieving goals
- divine intervention including angels, miracles or heaven
- selestial bodies including stars of all types
Please feel free to add your own, and prepare to get tipsy.....

Well it would have been a fairly dull night at my house during Kates song Though on reviewing the lyrics to "Maybe Tonight", may I also add to the drinking game list: - anything to do with stories, chapters, books, the next page....
;D

*dies laughing at drinking game list* I've actually quite liked two out of the three winners' singles so far, but then I just love an overblown sappy ballad! Hmm... something else to add to that list might be, "any thanks given or references to feelings of gratitude". ;D I don't drink so I'll be safely sober tonight, but I think Jess is going to be on first tonight with her version of the single up first (I hope so, since Damien had to go first last week!) and now I'm afraid I won't be able to appreciate her version of the song because I will be giggling too much if any of those things come up! Thank goodness for mp3s! I think it's going to be a great show but I am still a little nervous. I guess because this is the last show before the end, and while I'm confident he'll do well with what he's chosen... the finality of it is frightening.

selestial bodies including stars of all typesoooh, a song with me in it (shimmery star, geddit? ) lol, seriously though, I've liked the winner's singles each year - but then again I get totally swept away by the whole "Parade of Idols", "Climb up the Opera House Steps", "Final Group Performance", and "Winner's Announcement" peaking with fireworks crackling all over the Opera House. ahhhhhhh - it's so fab

Please feel free to add your own, and prepare to get tipsy..... ROFL. Love it!! Prepare for a hangover to end all hangovers gamers. I think we can put together a rough approximation, in prose form, of the structure of the song: VERSE 1 Before I had my encounter*, I was feeling somewhat depressed. I also didn’t have much money – I have been known to eat out of garbage bins. And it is an unfortunate fact that this depression led me to be a not very nice person. Not very nice at all. I lived in lavish council houses and didn’t mow my front lawn. I once swindled an elderly person out of their life savings in an online investment scam. Put simply, I was a bit of a sh*t. VERSE 2 Anyway, so I had this encounter, and it made me reassess my priorities. The encounter taught me that I had some lifestyle issues that I needed to resolve. CHORUS Before my encounter I was a bit of a sh*t Now I’ve had my encounter, I’m feeling rather smug It would me nice if every single person in the world could have this encounter, because smugness is what the world needs right now VERSE 3 My encounter has made me a better person. I really am rather glad I had it. I don’t have to eat out of bins anymore – my smugness is all the sustenance I need. What a pity some people are either too unfortunate or too stupid to stumble across such an encounter. CHORUS Before my encounter I was a bit of a sh*t Now I’ve had my encounter, I’m feeling rather smug It would me nice if every single person in the world could have this encounter, because smugness is what the world needs right now Yes, smugness is what the world needs right now** * Encounter: An event than can be interpreted as either a religious experience or, for the agnostics and atheists in the audience, meeting a boy/girl. ** Insert outstretched arms and shrill note held for an unnecessarily long amount of time here.

*dies laughing* OMG! Someone needs to set that to music! (I originally typed, "Someone needs to set that to lyrics"... can anyone else spot that I'm so excited my brain has gone walkies? I'm already swept away in the Opera House festivities, and they don't even start for another week! )
