Can I just say that Damien's performance of "nissan" dorma tonight at the Opera House was absolutely superb!!!!! He clearly had more time to prepare for it and seemed far more confident than the night he performed it on the show (although his first performance of it was spectacular!). I also noticed he seemed determined to keep his eyes open more this time LOL I could almost hear him reminding himself "Ooops! Eyes OPEN eyes OPEN". I think having performed it once so beautifully he knew how well he could do it, so he knew he could improve on it - and having the added inspiration of performing opera at the Opera House!!! Such a brilliant opportunity. Well how could he not just blow us all away! I can only imagine how divine it would have sounded live with those gorgeous Opera House acoustics!!! End of rave

I think he was fantastic! It could not be a more appropriate song to be sung at Opera House. During the moment he belted out "Vincero!Vincero!Vinceeeeeroooo!" I imagined him being announced as the winner. Sigh... I need to replay the moment in my memory.
Did anyone tape the show? I want to rewatch the end bit where he was named the Australian Idol.

I was at the Opera House tonight.
When he sang this, it was AMAZING.
Absolutely EVERYONE in the audience STOOD UP and gave him a standing ovation.
It was phenomenal. If there was ever any doubt *and there was not* he absolutely OWNED the Opera House tonight.

That was brilliant wasn't it. If anyone had of saw me through the window I would have looked a right idiot. I was sitting on the lounge, tears streaming down my face and both my arms stretched upwards as he was singing that vincero bit.

I think the first live performance of this should be a bonus track on his album. Really, it's a lovely song. Extremely hard to perfect. And his showcase. Sure crying and Haleyujah (yes I know I can't spell it) were superbly preformed. He isn't called the People's Tenor for no reason. A nickname well deserved.

I thought the performance of Nessun Dorma tonight was less 'opera' and more 'Damien', if you know what I mean? He obviously felt more free to be a little more spontaneous with it, and it wasn't as technically perfect as far as timing went (the vocals, however were perfect!) but it was even more brilliant than the first time, if that's possible.
And I loved the way he hit that last note and just kept it going. It was almost as though he was saying, 'If this is the last note I ever sing on this stage, it's gonna be a BIG one!'

It was beautiful! Someone's been working on his pronouciation! It was great to see him more relaxed this time, not think "will it work - won't it work - will I stuff it - will I get voted off..." My eyes almost popped out when I saw how long he held that last "vincero!" Wow!! Must go watch it again...
