I know we've already discussed the two noticeable sound defects on the CD. Something else I've noticed, or maybe it's just my particular CD player, but Damien's voice has a very prominent echo on many of the tracks, actually something that is a positive enhancement for the listener. And, I'm impressed with the digital remastering of the musical/instrumental background on the songs, like Damien's piano on MTMG. So, while the sound isn't 100% perfect, the engineers have done a really good job converting the songs from Idol on to CD.

I dunno, to be honest I'm still not happy with it, I never listen to TWJ cd, I listen to the tracks I downloaded and burnt to a disc myself... Then again, I have a really old stereo, so maybe that's part of it. But compared to the tracks I downloaded, TWJ sounds really bad, it's pretty disappointing... Ah, but it was worth it for the dvd - and getting it signed! It's now my prized possession! ;D

Maybe it depends on what type of stereo/CD player you own? My CD player isn't exactly all that new, and yet listening to Damien's CD with the digital headphones plugged in, it sounds terrific!

Some people have said the tracks are mixed to be ripped off the disc and put on iPods, it automatically equalizes the them and they sound better. I might try that. I don't mind though. The disc I burnt has every song from Idol on it - both versions of Nessum Dorma and NOML - plus all his originals (except Fool) and the studio version of NOML. ;D

I should download Damien's Opera House performances of Nessun Dorma and NOML.

Oh yeah... the Opera House performance of Nessun Dorma is awesome! I agree it must just be different CD players. On ours, the CD sounds beautiful, and though I do have issues with the fading in and out and tweaking here and there, it's still enjoyable to listen to overall.

OMG: I just watched the whole Australian Idol Winner's announcement/Damien doing the winner's single for what seems like the 100th time, and it was as brilliant as the first time. I was excited all over again!

Yeah, I love watching that moment when they announce the winner - television gold! It was television gold for me, especially because I was convinced that night that Jess would win. When they read out Damien's name, I jumped out of the chair and did a dance round the lounge room.

When they read out Damien's name, I jumped out of the chair and did a dance round the lounge room. I do believe my mother and I did the same. We were pacing separate areas of the floor during the whole painfully prolonged build up to the announcement, so we were pretty exhausted by the end of the night!

I don't even listen to mine anymore because it's that bad I've tried it in many diff players and there all the same. The ones from behind idol are 10 times better but it was worth it for the dvd just a bit disapointing they couldn't get the audio cd better if behind idol can. I might try it on my mp3 player one day but I don't think it will be much different.

I, like Sunshine in her original post, noticed the echo on the tracks, especially Message to My Girl. I have to say, though, that I do not like it at all. I can understand why it would seem like an improvement with the sound but i got used to listening to the "Behind Idol" version - the sound of his voice is so raw and sweet; and now with the echo - it is unnecessary and detracts from his voice - he doesn't need an echo with a voice that good! Also, I find on Creep that the guitars are too overbearing over his voice compared to Behind Idol version.
I have the songs playing from the CD in the car and also ripped onto Itunes and it seems about the same.
