Damien Leith was interviewed this morning on the Kyle & Jackie O Show on the 2DAY FM 104.1. "Damien chats about his new-found popularity in Ireland, working on the new album and performs an acoustic version of Chris Isaak's 'Wicked Game'." Thanks Dede, great interview although Jackie's comments about whether or not Damien and Eileen were actually married was a bit out there. Who cares! Also wanting to know the intricacies of Eileen's labour was a little weird but Damien didn't miss a beat. He answers everything thrown at him with such openness and honesty. Something I have noticed over the last while is that Damien is referred to simply as Damien, not Damien Leith so much, more often it's Damien and everyone knows who he is. When you become known by one name, you know you've arrived!

Oh no, Hyp. Doesn't your computer like realplayer? It's funny how some of us have problems with one site and not another and it seems to be different for everyone. Go figure. Gremlins in the computer.

It keeps telling me this 'outside application launch' 'invalid file' junk. I'll just have to wait for the podcast! Stay strong, hyp, stay strong.....

You lucky people who are going to see him live in concert! His banter (or is it craic?) will be excellent! Just listening to Wicked Game - he is a brilliant live performer! ok.. I'm drooling....

Hopefully, he'll get out to Western Australia when he's promoting the new album so that you can finally see him live.

Interesting comments regarding his songs getting commercialised and made into "happy" songs! To be expected I guess.

Interesting comments regarding his songs getting commercialised and made into "happy" songs! To be expected I guess. Actually...I'm going to confess...and I hope people wont be too down on me for being a bit negative.... my heart sunk a bit when D spoke of re working a song to be "happy" and "radio friendly". I mean, I DO trust that he is being true to himself, and we all know that he is great under pressure...but I hope he isnt getting too much pressure to make something commercially successful and radio-oriented. I guess being signed to a major label does mean you are well and truly in the pop market, but one of the reasons I was drawn to D is that he wasnt typical pop material, and wasnt choosing to cover pop artists. It honestly wouldnt bother me if his songs didnt make radio playlists, or if he wasnt chart material....as long as the music is his, and he loves it. That being said, I think its great that he IS writing with other people...its a great way of honing your craft...I just want him to be 100% happy with it. Hes waited long enough, I really want the whole experience to be great

I guess from D's perspective (although I obviously can't speak for him!) chart success is probably important too, after waiting so long for his shot, to prove that he's "got what it takes". However, like you winter, I don't care if his songs aren't commercial..I love his stuff anyway, and just want him to be happy with the results.

I'd just rather he was 100% happy and in control...while still being able to take care of his family...I hope thats the case! *fingers crossed*

I'm sure Damien wouldn't do that, Winter. After all, he kept true to himself during Idol with all those happy, radio-friendly young 'uns around him and copping massive criticism for being too old from Mark and Kyle, so if he can handle that kind of pressure, I'm sure he won't feel obliged to try to be hip now that the ball's in his court and he can do what he wants. Besides, he has Alex Lloyd to stop him from going off the tracks
