Mum can speak a bit of Irish and I can speak a teeny bit, but learning it is quite a challenge to say the least if you don't grow up with it!

I have a similar experience with my mothers language - I wasnt taught as a child, and after 3 years of haphazardly starting to learn it I'm about ready to give up. Its the sounds that I cant get right, as there are some that just arent present in the English language! So my pronounciation is very dodgy, and when I try to practice with my mother she just laughs and laughs - it sounds so crazy to her, like someone putting on a very funny voice!
