AND then their were two. With the latest Australian Idol winner just one week away here is your chance to pick the winner.
And the contrast couldn't be more different – a schoolgirl diva-in-the-making and an Irish dad who works as a chemist by day and plays the pub circuit by night.
After outsinging a pool of 25,000 wannabes, Jessica Mauboy and Damien Leith are preparing for the most-anticipated finale in Australian Idol history.
In a series lauded for unearthing the best selection of talent yet, Australia remains divided on who will snare first place at the Opera House next week.
This year's singathon has seen none of the typical controversies of previous -series, unless you count judge Kyle Sandiland's "jelly belly" comment to Mauboy, or his "tic tac teeth" remark to Leith.
Rather, the diverse array of gifts on the show is at the core of the ratings windfall for Channel Ten this year, with an average of 1.6 million viewers tuning in to the Sunday night performance shows nationwide – up from around 1.3 million last year.
Format changes, including extending the age bracket and allowing instruments, have helped turn the 2005 ratings slump.
Tonight is the last chance to win over voters, with the final studio performance show on Ten at 7.30pm.
They will both perform a song of their choice, and their own version of the winner's single.
The grand final will screen from 7.30pm next Sunday
