DAMIEN Leith hopes to become a true blue Aussie citizen next year.
The Irishman told The Eye yesterday he was already in the process to become an Australian before Australian Idol started. "I love this country," Leith said.
"My son is Australian and so is my wife, and we made a decision to make our home here."
Leith had one hour's sleep yesterday after his big win, but still couldn't wipe the smile of his face.
The first thing he wants to do is catch up properly with his wife Eileen and their 14-month-old son Jarvis.
He will look to Shannon Noll to try to balance his hectic career with family duties.
"We will manage somehow," Leith said.
His original album won't be out until next year, but Sony BMG will cash in by releasing an album of songs he sang on the show.
This has never been done before with an Idol.
Stand by for Jessica Mauboy and Melbourne's Dean Geyer to be signed any minute now.

This has never been done before with an Idol.
Probably because no other idol has produced so many stand out performances in 12 weeks! I'm rapt they're releasing this for Damien. It's AWESOME.
