HE was ceremoniously crowned the Australian Idol - and just a week later Irish crooner Damien Leith has notched up the ARIA chart figures to really seal his freshly signed record deal.
Leith not only upgraded the status of his debut single Night Of My Life from gold to platinum yesterday, but in doing so it also became the year's highest and fastest selling single in the first week of release.
More than 100,000 units of the smash hit ballad are currently being sent to record stores around the country following it's hugely successful online release during last week's Australian Idol finale.
The chart topper turned chart breaker had no trouble maintaining Idol's record of debut No.1 singles with his first recording easily ripping in at number one.
So has there been much partying in the Leith's Newtown household in Sydney's inner west?
To be sure, to be sure.
"He hardly slept all weekend - in addition to all the celebrations, their phone has been ringing off the hook with congratulatory calls from overseas," a spokeswoman from record company Sony told Confidential yesterday.
Leith fever is set to reach fever pitch on Thursday when Sony BMG releases their souvenir recording, Damien Leith - The Winner's Journey - a CD-DVD package of the Irishman's Idol journey.
Meanwhile, former products of the talent quest have taken over the charts this week, with Anthony Callea entering the ARIA albums chart with his second offering, A New Chapter and The Young Divas staying at number six with their self-titled album.
