THE ratings season is over and our favourite shows are tucked away till next year. It's time to recognise the best and worst TV in 2006.
Nip/tuck award
IT was the year Australian Idol re-discovered its mojo - because Ten summoned up the audacity to fiddle with a format that was drowning the show in mediocrity.
Idol's UK owners usually don't like international productions steering away from their strict guidelines but, to their credit, the Aussies fought for changes - such as singers playing their own instruments - and ended up with a much more credible (and higher-rating) show.
