Idol champion tops chartsDecember 27, 2006 11:26am www.news.com.au/entertainment/story/0,23663,20978091-7484,00.html IRISH-BORN Australian Idol winner Damien Leith will see out 2006 in number one position, topping the ARIA charts for the second successive week. The Sydney-based father of one (with one on the way) continued his winning festive season form by leading both the singles and albums chart. He heads into 2007 ahead of Shannon Noll and Natalie Bassingthwaighte in the singles and The 12th Man in the albums chart, who both reprised their second placings from last week. In a largely unchanged line-up, Beyonce's Irreplaceable moved up one spot in the singles chart to third, ahead of Smack That by Akon. Sandi Thom's I Wish I was a Punk Rocker also moved up one, from seventh position to sixth behind the Scissor Sisters. Evergreen Irish rockers U2 took out third position in the albums chart for the second week in a row, while Human Nature's Dancing in the Street II moved up to fourth. Australian Idol stars, the Young Divas made the biggest move of the week, sliding two spots to 10th position with their self-titled album.

Bring on the Baileys... When will all this celebrating end? Phew, it's exhausting, but very worthwhile. I guess we can all force ourselves to do a little more celebrating if we really must. *wink wink*
