The arrival of musicians Damien Leith and Bobby Flynn to the nation’s capital signalled that the final preparations for tomorrow’s Australia Day Live Concert are under way.
Last year’s Australian Idol winner Leith and finalist Flynn rehearsed their acts at Duntroon Military College last night, Leith, from Ireland, will be celebrating his first Australia Day as a “real Aussie” his citizenship ceremony will be held during the concert.
The Australia Day Live Concert will begin with the Australian of the Year Awards at 5.30pm in front of Parliament House. The concert kicks off at 8pm tomorrow. Leith and Flynn will be joined by fellow Australian Idol Guy Sebastian and Australian groups including the Whitlams, TV Rock, the Audreys and Sick Puppies.
Betting on yabbie races, playing beach cricket with friends, a bbq with family or watching the fireworks, however you choose to celebrate Australia Day on Friday, the National Australia Day Council is asking Australians to show national pride.
“Show the Flag. Fly it at home, at the office, on the car or even on yourself with a stick-on tattoo” a council spokeswoman said.
