Last year's Australian Idol winner Damien Leith is set to become an author.
Publisher Harper Collins says it has signed a deal to publish a fiction novel written by the Irish singer.
The signing is a result of over a year of communications between Leith and the publisher, according to Harper Collins.
Fiction publisher Linda Funnel was introduced to Leith by a mutual friend in 2005 and says she was impressed by his writing skills before he achieved fame as a reality TV star.
The publisher has described the novel as an 'inspiring story of courage and hope'.
The book, so far unnamed, is scheduled to go on sale in October.
