I would prefer him to do his own cd with his original songs and some of the ones he has done on idol...Wicked Game etc..
I don't mind if he came third even, as I think he has enough exposure that someone will snap him up real fast..and I don't want him doing some crappy song that Mark (knobhead) Holden has written. None in the past have been huge hits..hopefully they will let Damien (if he wins) release Sky as his first single..that would be fantastic with the right recording sounds and touchups..I think it is great the way it is...but they could make it even better....I'll still vote till my fingers bleed though..

I would rather wait years than have him do an album of songs that werent his or that he didnt like or just 'werent him'.
I love the songs he chooses to do on Idol, and I get the impression he chooses songs he loves instead of songs for the general public. I think thats what makes his performances special, and I cant imagine him doing an album where the songs arent special to him.
I wouldnt mind if he placed top 2, 3 or 4, as long as he gets to that audience choice night the week after this!
However, I do think the reality of not placing first will be waiting for a release.
Is it true that Dan England (was he 4th last year?) is only releasing now, a year later? Hayley Jensen, 4th place from Idol 2 is only releasing now, thats 2 years on. I'm not sure if Courtney who came 3rd that year EVER released?
No other place but 1st is guaranteed a contract, and doing it independently takes time.
For me, its probably all a bit academic - I dont think I could ever resist voting like a demon for him!

yeah I would like a really thought out cd over some commercially 1 week arrangement..
But the thought of him going to the Opera house...all dressed up and singing and and and...I could go on forever..*best I zip the lip*..

Courtney never released one as far as I know. I hope he comes 1st or 2nd because if he's 3rd or more it will take a lot longer for him to get a contract and it's not a sure thing that he will get one as it is if he comes first. Did I read somewhere they have 2 weeks to release their album? That might not be so bad if they let him put the songs on it he wants as he has already written quite a few and has more experience than previous idols. I think it would be harder for Ricky or Jess as they don't seem to write. I don't know if they do or not but they didn't sing an original on the Up Close show so they'll probably have Mark writing for them.
I read the other day on the news that the song they sang on the Up Close and Personal show "could" be their first single. They said this years show was a first for lots of things so it's possible.

Of course, deep down if this were true I wish it were "Come to Me", I have a serious addiction to that song and just cant get it out of my head.....but Sky would do just nicely thanks very much ;D |

I want him to come first and beat Jessica lol.....
It's an interesting one actually...if he was runner up he could do his own thing more instead of doing the sony/idol thing. He could actually be more successful as runner up....but bugger that cos I want him to win.....I'm convinced Jess is going to win (blah) and I would just love to see him win instead of her as he is more talented and deserves it more......I would just be so very happy if he won as we all would be.....I definitely think it will be a Damien/ Jess final.

I reckon it will be a Damien/Jess final too. However, if it comes to that I still reckon Damien will beat Jess. Dean has got to go this week! It will make life so much easier. I am confident he will go....(only my opinion though).

I agree it should (in a perfect world) end up being a D & J Final, if Dean gets in the Final I wont be watching, sorry but I wont cope, (sorry to Dean Fans) but I am sick to death of seeing his face on all the mags, the judges have favoured him, now the Media is doing it also, all the pics in the mags of Dean are sooooo much bigger than the other idols & sometimes a whole page just on him, its simply not fair to give him so much more publicity than the others, they should all be treated the same in the media.
Well thats my whinge for tonight folks.
Damo is in my car at all times, took my 19 yr old to the doctor the other day and pumped Damo up full blast, he glares at me and says "how come I get in trouble when I pump my music up & you can do it" to which I replied "Its my right as a faithful Damienite son, get used to it, teeheeee", son rolls eyes & looks out window.

Lisa, I agree with you, I think Dean will go this week (does not please me as I am a fan of his). If Dean doesn't go (which he probably will), then Chris might go.
Perfect final would be Damien and Dean, with Damien winning but that's just my opinion lol. Realistic final is Jess and Damien with Jess winning.
I hope you're right and I'm wrong....How amazing would it be if Damien won!!??

It would be such a credit to our nation if Damien won. It would prove that the idol audience aren't all young things with pretty boy fixations and too much credit on their mobile phones.
If you believe in patterns, there could be a good chance Damien could win. I thought long and hard about this theory -
Top 24: Damien was last bloke into the competition; the last place was down to him and the guy in the cowboy hat
Semifinals: Damien was the very first idol into the top 12! ;D
logically, following a last-first-last pattern, Damien should be the last out of the competition, ie the winner, in order to complete the pattern. That would mean Dean, being the second into the competition, would be the second last out of it, ie the runner-up. I can't remember how Jessica and Chris came into the competition, so I can't place them.
Not sure if this theory is really that logical, but we can hope, right? I really hope the pattern doesn't apply to Dean; I would love Jessica to go to opera house.
