Too many terms and conditions but here some things you might want to know:

Be able and willing, at their own cost and expense, to travel to and from their home to the closest Jetstar Designated Airport to their home address ("Local Airport") to take up the Prize. The Jetstar Designated Airports are:
Adelaide
Melb - Avalon
Launceston
Hobart
Byron
Gold Coast
Sunshine Coast
Fraser Coast
Hamilton Island
Whitsunday Coast
Townsville
Cairns
Perth
Darwin

The Competition will be open to entry by registered Website users over the age of 18 only. So, the Producer at its discretion may ask for photographic proof of identification and age before determining any winner(s).

The Producer will pay for or arrange the following prize elements (a) to (f) (the "Prize"),in conjunction with Jetstar for each Prize Winner.
a. 2 x economy return Local Jetstar Airport/Sydney/ Local Jetstar Airport air travel tickets to arrive in Sydney on Sunday 5th November 2006 and depart Sydney on Tuesday 7th November 2006 (Jetstar's ticket terms and Conditions apply - flights may not be direct and may be transferred via other Local Airports at the Producer's discretion ) .
b. 2 nights accommodation {for 2 people at a Sydney Hotel to be determined by Producer
c. an invitation for 2 people to attend the live performance show of the Australian Idol Program at Global Television Studios, Ryde, Sydney on Sunday 5th November and to meet the remaining Idols
d. An invitation for 2 people to attend the live results show of the Australian Idol Program at Global Television Studios, Ryde, Sydney on Monday 6th November
e. transport to and from Sydney Airport to Sydney hotel
f. transport to and from Sydney Hotel to Global Studios

Appearance in the Program:

Each Competition entrant, if selected as a Prize Winner, acknowledges that in reliance on consents given by the Competition entrant, the Producer may incur significant outlays and as an incentive for the Producer to photograph, video, film or record the Competition entrant (there being no obligation on the Producer to do so), the Competition entrant irrevocably agrees and consents that the Producer may (and may authorise others to) photograph, video, film and/or record the Competition entrant and edit, adapt, alter, omit and otherwise use the resulting materials (the "Materials"), including the Competition entrant's name, likeness, image, actions, voice and/or biographical material (which includes, without limitation, any "personal information" as defined in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth)), in any and all media now known or hereafter devised, world-wide, in or in connection with the production, broadcast, marketing, promotion, publicity and exploitation of the Program, Australian Idol and the Competition, in perpetuity without restriction. The Producer will own all rights, title and interest in any Materials and the results and proceeds of the Competition entrant's performance, appearance and Materials in perpetuity.

hence the reason I never enter these comps, even though I'd like to Don't like waiving my rights to my own info or image!

okay. I'm under 18, so does that mean i can't enter or am not eligible to win... or, I read somewhere in the terms and conditions, that...
"if under 18 that a parent or guardian will be given the prize." Can anyone confirm this or have any ideas?

I'm pretty sure that if they were intent on no-one under the age of 18 attending or winning this prize that they would have highlighted it on the actual entry form, afterall.... i hate to say it, but not too many people actually go through and read the whole terms and conditions. I know thats not there problem, but usually, just to cover their asses (sorry for profanity, lol) they would make it a little more known. Usually thats what they do if there's something like that. After all, when you request tickets... it highlights stuff like that ie: AUDIENCE MEMBERS MUST BE OVER 12 YEARS OLD.... or..... stuff about not all audience seats being seated. stuff like that. I just reckon they would have made it a little more well know, thats all...

I havn't entered so I'll see if it says anymore about being over 18.

The only other thing I see about the age thing is this part:


Each Competition entrant agrees that all information relating to the business of the Producer or Network Ten of which they are aware, or of which they become aware, is the property of that relevant party, is of a confidential nature and is disclosed on a confidential basis (Confidential Information) and agrees that they will not at any time, before, during or after the Competition divulge any of the Confidential Information to any person or company, including, but not only any media entity or organisation, other than:

a. if under 18 (eighteen) years old, to their legal guardian; or
b. as required to do so by law; or
c. to professional legal advisers; and and will take all reasonable precautions to ensure that all such persons to whom the Confidential Information is divulged maintain the same confidentiality. This clause does not apply to information already in the public domain without a breach by a Competition entrant of the obligations of confidentiality in this clause.

I would think by what they say below that you do have to be over 18. Also you did tick a box on the entry form saying you agree with the terms and conditions :-(

Don't you get to take a friend? I thought that if someone won they would get to take a friend. I have to go my myself if i win? oh dear lol

no they wouldnt do that - because they know that people would be concerned about being alone if they won they comp - they do this with every comp - always bring a family member or friend that way things go more smoothly and no one is uncomfy!

Yeah that's what I thought. So if you are under 18 you can just take a parent instead of a friend

the way it works is if a minor wins then the parent or guardian is given the tickets. The competition is drawn on the 30th of october (tomorrow) and I'm assuming that the winners are announced on tomorrows verdict show.
