Hi everyone  I've recorded the entire Australian Idol series on my DVD HardDrive and plan to make a DVD of only Damien and his performances. Judges comments (good and bad) will be kept on because of the Touchdowns that need to be kept and remembered forever  I'd love to share this DVD with everyone, but obviously that could get quite expensive and since I don't want to make profit from this AT ALL, I've come up with an idea on how this can get around without too much trouble. Basically I will make 10 copies and send them to 10 people, and those 10 people would then make 10 copies and send them on to 10 more and so on and so forth. What do people think? If this has been suggested already or is already being made by someone else, please let me know (and sorry if I've stepped on anyone's toes!) so I can delete this thread. If it hasn't been suggested already and you're interested, please either reply here, PM me, or simply e-mail me at ozbrat @ gmail . com. You need to be able to burn DVDs and possibly even print on DVDs (although that isn't important) so the love can continued to be spread! |

That's a great idea! We should get people who live close together to send them to each other though - it doesn't make sense if we have to send them all the way across the country if ten other members live close by. I'm not saying we shouldn't send a copy to irishangel and others in Ireland, though perhaps irishangel has all the shows already! We really should send copies to Eileen and Damien's family in Ireland as well. It'd be great to have a DVD of this stuff! Do you have the lead-up video packages before the performances and clips from verdict shows and stuff as well? I'd love a copy of the DVD, we would need to scout out prices of sending discs, and there's a possibility of being accused of piracy if they have to go through customs. Still, I think it sounds like a great idea! |

There is sort of a thread about it here, though I dont think anything was resolved: Other DVD threadI know other fanforums in the past have organised their own own Idol DVDs and done a similar distribution as suggested..... I'd love to have a copy aof all D's performances, and I'm sure D and Eileen wouldnt mind one too! I can burn DVD's, but I'll also put up my hand as someone who can design the menus......have done that before ;D |

Good idea, I have no idea how to do that! Do we need cover designs too, or is that too hard to organise? I'm able to print labels onto the actual discs as well, but that might be overkill.
I have another idea for an 'extra' we could put on the disc, if there's room...how about a photo gallery? It'd be great to have a recording of Damien's phone message, and his video blogs from Behind Idol!
ok, getting carried away, that's a lot of work...

Grouping the areas together is a smart idea, for sure. I'd be more than happy to send copies to Damien's family, but I wasn't sure if they'd have copies of all the channel 10 stuff already anyway. I have everything. I just don't know how I'm going to chop it up and put it together! Damien wasn't featured in the group of threes so there isn't much to put for that, but I have his audition and the little bit of Hallelujah he did for the solo stuff on the night he was put into the top 24 (along with him being one of the last two of the guys to be PUT into the top 24!). All the lead ups and stuff I have too. Group performances. It'll be good! Now we just need Damien to win and it'll be a complete DVD I want to make it clear that no profit will be made from this WHAT SO EVER. So hopefully no custom problems will come in to play! *touches wood* It'd just be friends sending stuff to friends... right? |

ozbrat, thats where the menu comes in...like a chapter or scene menu on a DVD.... You could have sub-menus... So lets say you have - auditions
- semis
- finals
- extras
then in the auditions sub-menu you could put first audition, groups of 3, seymour solo etc....put a little fade in and fade out on every clip, and you're there..... Yes, this is alot of work ;D |

I'm sure D's family would love something like that to look back on. If i could get an address of where to pass on a copy to D's family then i would be happy too, even if it meant driving to Kildare and knocking on every door in the county till i found the right house

It'd be hard getting it to them without seeming like a stalker or something. I can burn DVD's, but I'll also put up my hand as someone who can design the menus......have done that before ;D Well all the stuff will actually be burnt onto a DVD from the hard drive recorder so there won't be any computer involvement other than to make copies of the original. So menus won't be extravagant. Functional, but not extravagant. LOL I'll let you know if I need any help though - thanks! (Btw what programs do you use? I can look in to see if it/they can be used with how I'll be doing everything). |

Cover designs and disc designs I can do no problem. I'll be printing straight onto disc too. But photo galleries? Voice message? Video blogs? Whoa! LOL They all sound awesome, but it might be a bit much. Maybe someone could get all that stuff on another DVD or CD all together? Great suggestion though. It just sounds like another project altogether.. |

If I was doing this from the computer I could do it that way, but it's coming straight from the DVD recorder (which came straight from the TV), so it'll be basic (yet good!) menus. Maybe I should have waited 'till the DVD was made before saying anything so I could explain myself better. LOL I'll keep this thread updated anyhow. And I'll be asking for help if that's ok! |
