Hey guys, there have been loads of different ideas for a special keepsake that I am arranging to have passed on to Damien. Please be aware that I am a bit clueless when it comes to stuff like this, but I have a heap of friends with different software, so I could probably find a little bit of assistance. Any other Ideas would be helpful.

I chose the scrapbook option because I've posted about making a DVD already and have no interest in making a scrapbook with messages etc, so this way I figure Damien would get both! ;D

I dunno - a scrapbook is more accessible, you just have to turn the pages and you don't need anything special to view it, but it depends on how much it would cost to print out all those messages (there could easily be hundreds!) and what the print quality for graphics is like. Also, if it's on disc, you could email it to us all so we'd all have a momento of how we met each other and helped Damien become the Australian Idol!

I know it might take a while, but I'm gonna handwrite out all mesages and then what I'll do is scan it and add the graphics and stuff. My printer is fine, but my aunt has a really high quality printer so I might email it to her. I'll try and post it somewhere around here so that everyone can see the finishing product

I'm not sure which way to vote...
If we did a CD/DVD, we'd have to discuss exactly how we wanted it to work. Autorun, or just some things that he can look at? We could do more with it but we'd perhaps have to take software compatibility issues into account.
We all understand what we mean by a scrapbook, but it will perhaps take a lot of effort and could cost more.
I like both ideas so I'll go with what everyone else decides...

If you're happy to do the scrapbook, if you're more comfortable with that than a CD, I'm fine with it. My only concern is if people want to send in digital media, like videos and voice messages, that can't be printed on paper. Of course, we could always include the disc in the book, or send two separate things, a book and a disc. It all depends on the time restraints and how quickly people can put together what they want to send - we don't want to worry about it not reaching him in time. If Team Dean can manage a scrapbook (someone gave him one at Westfield) we can certainly do it too!

Hmm yes - by the cd / dvd do you mean as in his idol performances etc (because I might need to purchase that one lol) or do you mean just messages and videos and pictures???
As you know I love the scrap book idea with messages in there ... I know what I want to say! - so i'll vote the scrap book but as someone said - if we cou;d arrange both that would be really sweet as...

I was thinking messages and such, to go with the scrapbook... someone else is doing Idol performances I think? It would get a bit complex to have a disc with pictures and video and audio on it, but if we decide to just perhaps have audio or video messages on the disc, and everything else in the scrapbook, we could probably pull that together and keep everyone happy.

I'm leaning towards the scrapbook, but kamitsuki, don't worry about cost, I have everything to do it at home anyways. So I'm not worried about that at all. I could do the CD/DVD, but I don't have that much software, I have friends and family that do, but I dno't think it would convey the message that a scrapbook would because of my computer skills lol.

Well, as long as it's no trouble!
Scrapbooks have that 'handmade' feel that is really special, so I'm leaning that way too. I'd love for us to organise a CD/DVD, but it might be nice to take some time over that and learn the skills we need to get it right.

well - we can always give him a cd / dvd another time when he becaomes rich and famous that way he wont forget us and why he is there ... And yea they do have that 'special' feel to them - they are much more personal and thoughtful because its time and energy put into it! lol i'll stop being all sentimental now...

I have this crazy idea of us doing a "Year of Damien" DVD movie thing in... yes, in about year's time... we could get videos of everyone and talk about all the wonderful things that have happened for him and ourselves since he first arrived on our television screens. I have a feeling there will be a lot to talk about too!
It seems to be really tough for a lot of the ex-Idols to get used to life once the show is through, so it would be really timely!
Has anyone seen the new Idol ads with a clip of Damien singing 'Wicked Game'? One was just on here. Awwww.... </random>

I think a DVD would be great. Not just an audio CD with Damiens songs on it, but also a DVD with a slide show of pics and voice messages. This would be so awesome BUT i think it would be very difficult to do. I am willing to do it and think it is an awesome idea, but I just need some more info on how to do. If someone can point me in the right direction then I'll do it but how am I supposed to receive all these voice messages. I suppose it could be done through email?
