Yes, I made it then to demonstrate the difference between that and: seriously, what I was waiting for the most was seeing D and Jess arrive at the Opera House and walk up the steps.....IN. A. SUIT!!!! Do you think they are going to put her in a "rock outfit"? I dont think so.... *sobs*

Well, if they are talking about horse drawn carriages (?!!) then I don't think a rock outfit will match that - what on earth are they all planning - talk about teh intrigue!!!!
Maybe - a MR DARCY style outfit - eeeeeeeeeee, as in "New Romantic" to go with the horses, then once inside he changes.... into rock/pirate THEN for the final grand announcement.... the SUIT emerges. (ok, I know, I'm losing it, it's late after a long week....)
You know, I love all this "Grand Final Ceremony" stuff so much, I'd love to 'create' these events and procedures, lol.

ROFTL at you guys but I have tears pouring down my face Winter, I'm with you, I WANT THE SUIT! I don't want the pirate on Sunday night, I WANT THE SUIT! The pirate is for fun but Sunday is serious business and it needs A SUIT! Jess will look gorgeous and will probably wear something glimmery and shimmery (sorry shimmery) with plenty of bling but Damien needs to wear a SUIT! A tie is not a pre-requisite and the stubble is OK, he just needs to wear a SUIT. Gawd, I've gotta stop this! The poor guy has to get up there and sing in front of how many millions so he needs to feel comfortable and happy with how he looks but I'm still hoping that he goes for the SUIT! Did I ever mention that I love a man in a suit, no tie, just the SUIT? ;D

Anyway, it comes with an Explanatory Memorandum with the following edict. "No suits." I kid you not.

Anyway, it comes with an Explanatory Memorandum with the following edict. "No suits." I kid you not. Ok. I just fished said Memorandum off the Fridge (where it has pride of place beside The Tickets) to re-read it. Yep, it says (I quote) Dress code is smart casual - no suits or ties please! Dress as you would for a rock or pop concert. Now, of course, I accept that there might be case for arguing that a distinction needs to be made for the Talent. Particularly when said Talent looks damn fine in a SUIT. But then, one could contend that the good Mr Leith is trying not to embarass anyone by looking, shall we say, more Smartly dressed than the rest. That is to say, a timely demonstration of Good Manners. To be applauded. A lot. Like his singing. Not so much his dancing. But definitely the singing. Anyway, the Defence rests. *... so as better to lie prone whilst all chaos goes on around her, there being no Saturday sport, but newspapers to trawl and the mobile close at hand so as to continue voting*

Odd spot for such a shindig. Kind of downsizes the scale of the Moment, don't you think. However, may I say that the last such shindig I went to (the corporate box at the ARIA awards) (another long story), the variety in dress code was astonishing. Some people looked like they had just fallen out of bed ... and worn the clothes they wore when they fell into that bed the Saturday night before. Pfft.

I definitely think it downsizes the scale of the moment...they've go them singing about the "Night of their Lives", but not dresssing them accordingly? I'm with Mysterri - I certainly dont want him trussed up in a tie or a tux and all the works, but theres something about a guy in a beautifully cut suit that is just the most gorgeous thing in the world. I noticed in that "James Bond" shoot for Who that they put him in Zegna - glorious! Thats a frickin Rolls Royce suit! I also think the possibility is there for the girls to shine more....no restrictions on what they wear?! *weeps for death of the suit dream*
