Congratulations Damien, we all knew you could do it! I think I can speak for all of your fans in saying we are so proud of you and knew from your very first audition that you would be our next Australian Idol. Love and best wishes to Eileen and Jarvis and also to the Leith and Stapleton clans. Love ya heaps!
How is everyone here feeling now that we have Damien as our new Australian Idol? Where are you all? I hope you didn't all cyber drink too much and pass out! ;D Wasn't D just magnificent? Well that's just an understatement! My hands are still stinging from clapping so hard, I'm still shaking, my eyes are puffy from crying but it's all good. WE DID IT! We got Damien through to the Opera House and then on to be our Aussie Idol, how good does that feel? Pretty damn good I reckon.
Neski and Murf, thank you both so much for making this forum available to us so that we could share our highs and lows in the lead up to the grand final, it really is a pleasure to know you both. Damien's fans are truly wonderful people and I'm honoured and proud to be a part of the group.
It only gets better from here. ;D

Thanks Hyp. I made the sig and avatar this afternoon and no I didn't create a 'loser' version, LOL. I knew in my heart that Damien was going to win and there was no need for a 'loser' version. ;D ;D ;D

Hi all. First post here.
My household burst into spontaneous screaming when Damien's name was announced. What an absolutely brilliant outcome, for Damien and for Australia. I have had Damo's version of The Night of My Life in my head all day. We can all look forward to some great music from Irish. Yippee!
Sláinte, Damien.

I honestly didn't have the energy to dance tonight, I just sat there with tears pouring down my face and feeling so relieved that Damien had won. Did you see the look on his face, wasn't it just beautiful? I've been waiting to see that for months and he didn't disappoint me, he never has disappointed me, LOL. I just wish that we were all together in one room so that we could hoot, scream, cry and hug. It's been a very tense few weeks but it was all worth it. ;D

My turn. Haha,
Well, Damien you've already had a million wishes of congratulations already so I'll keep it short and sweet.
You have revitalised my, Australia's and the world's passion for fine music. And yours being a excellent example of this. From the piano, to the guitar, to opera. You have broadned my horizons as to what music I would actually listen to. Thank you. And good luck for the future.

OMG YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm on such a high...I can't believe he won...I was expecting Jess to win cos she is similar to the previous singers who have won idol and because the NT government and most of the media favoured her etc...I really thought she would win....When they announced Damien had won I think I screamed down half of Launceston. OMG I still can't believe it........THANK YOU SO MUCH to everyone who voted. You helped to make this happen. Damien will be one of the best singers to come out of Australia/Ireland....He already is to me.....OMG this ROCKS haha. CONGRATULATIONS DAMIEN!!!!! Ange xo

So that was what that faint screaming was. Nah... my mother was shrieking so loudly at the verdict I couldn't hear my own voice! Towards the end of the show I was convinced Jess was going to win too and I had a really bad feeling about it, especially when they showed all the irritating Jess fans, hardly any of whom mentioned that she had a beautiful voice and great taste in music and could play the piano and so on, preferring to carry on about how young and sweet she is and how much she, like, rocks. Ugh, because we all know you should concentrate on those things above the talent. I suppose most of her sensible fans were at home voting! I was, really, over the moon when things turned out all right after all. Jess will get to finish school now and I believe she will have a SonyBMG deal before the end of the week. And we got to make Damien so happy! And the way he sang the winner's song was just... magical. I forgot every rude thing I'd ever said about the song in that moment. Pure brilliance. And it was beautiful that Eileen knew all the lyrics to his winner's song. And seeing the two of them together at the end... serious case of warm and fuzzies. What a lovely couple they are. We can all congratulate ourselves for securing Jarvis's college fund!
