Heres the story on the official site...
..and heres the fun bits.....
With the finale approaching and the star-studded line-up growing each day, the Australian Idol team has enlisted the services of special guest presenters, Angela Bishop, Tim Bailey and Labrat.
Australian Idol’s brilliant 4th series has swept across the nation and made the entire country Idol-mad, so expect nothing short of a spectacle when the 2006 series comes to a dramatic conclusion on Sunday night.
The event is so preposterously large that special guest presenters have been added to the team to help Andrew G and James cover the massive broadcast. After Network Ten’s lovely Entertainment Reporter, Angela Bishop covers all the action on the red carpet, Andrew and James will rely on Australia’s favourite weatherman, Tim Bailey and 2DayFM announcer, Labrat to provide coverage of our finalists’ hometown events.
At the top of the nation, Darwin is revving up for a huge celebration and it seems that every Northern Territorian will be there. With an amphitheatre being prepared for the event, there’s sure to be plenty of action and in that mayhem there’s only one man capable and quick enough to cover the action. That’s right, we’re talking about one of the sharpest men on Australian television, Tim Bailey.
“It’s fabulous,” said Tim after scoring the gig. “To be on the number one show at Network Ten is just such a buzz and to be heading to Darwin where they’re so excited is something else. The whole territory is behind this show. Magic is going to happen up at the amphitheatre. There’s going to be thousands of people, music, bands… people are getting behind Jess like there’s no tomorrow, and to be able to broadcast that into everyone’s lounge rooms? What a gig!”
Labrat may be dealing with a smaller gathering at an unnamed Sydney venue, but mingling with Damien’s predominantly Irish supporters could become increasingly difficult as the evening progresses. After all, it won’t take long for the gathering to be at their rowdy best. “I’m stoked to be doing Idol,” said an enthusiastic Labrat. “Not only do I get to be a part of the Grand Final but I’m also supporting Damien who I’ve been supporting for most of the time. And I get to be in an Irish pub! Honestly, Damien, Idol, Irish Pub? Perfect!”
If you’ve made any plans for Sunday night, cancel them. The "Macca's® i'm lovin' it® Outdoor Concert" and The Australian Idol Grand Final are the biggest gigs of the year and they’ll be broadcast live, this Sunday night on Network Ten.
So...there is a hometown event for D on Grand Final night in Sydney, but I guess they are saying its a private party? I guess maybe the pub isnt big enough to hold GP....
A shame, I know that Jess' Darwin gig has been advertised, huge screen etc.....and all fans can go.
Anyone know the deal? Not that it matters to me LOL, I'm not Sydney based
