Recently, due a an unavoidable glitch, this forum has lost many threads, posts and private messages by members over the last two months. Many of us are feeling a sense of loss and dislocation over the sudden disappearance of these items, and it feels as though part of our collective heart has been ripped out. These posts were often spontaneous reactions to the exciting events about to unfold in Damien's career..the build-up to new album, the announcement of the follow-up Catch The Wind Tour, the news about all the promo about to happen, lots of new pretteh, including the album cover, announcements of signings and TV appearances etc. They were particular moments in time, which cannot be replaced or recreated, no matter how hard we try. However, we need to acknowledge how we are feeling, and then, get on with rebuilding this wonderful place by posting when we can, and one again anticipating the fabulous fact that we will have lots of gorgeous new music by D to listen to in just on 9 days!! Over to you.

I agree Trilly. We have lost so much, but as troupers we have rallied and TRIED to get back certain things. You are correct, the thing that we CAN NOT get back is the spontanaiety. We were all so excited about the Vanguard poster, the Valentines Day message from Damien to US, the Archibald Entry and the discussions that we had on the various portraits. All the funny stories that came out of St Patricks Day concert in Hyde Park. The Vanguard concerts and the various Huts afterwards, including one with Millton Inn on the door. The things we see out of windows. The excitement about the new Album and the lovely pics. The Damienfest, all the magical threads are up in cyberspace somehow. We have our memories, but it was always good to be able to go and read back on things that have happened. DLO will survive, but it makes you realize how much can happen in a bit over 2 months. RIP DLO posts, pretteh, witteh, news, excitement, drooling from 10-2-2008 to 15-4-2008.

WOW! I can't say much more than what Braffy and Trilly have said. Ditto to all of it ;D All we can do now is try and rebuild, and with the help of so many members who are doing just that, the place is starting to get the 'feel' / 'vibe' back into it again. Without people posting the place becomes very dull, so anyone who hasn't been posting and perhaps is thinking that they have already posted once in that thread, please just try and add something so that we get the feel back into the place again. Like Trilly said, we can't re-create the threads totally, but we can add NEW memories very easily. Here's to DLO surving it's first and hopefully last crash!

Thanks for starting this thread Trilly, I agree whole heartedly with what you have said, we will never be able to replace all the spontaneity that happens around here, but we do still have our own memories and we can rebuild in here, I was deeply saddened by everything that we lost as I know everyone else was too, but we need to now look forward and make DLO again, the happy place that we all turn too and love

I know guys. I feel the exact same way. And I feel this place hasn't had quite the homey feel after the invasion. Stupid proboards and their server! Its impossible to recreate the excitment and the spontanious chatter and babble. I think the best we can do is to create new excitement and babble. RIP Feb - April 2008

It does feel a little like we've been violated in some way with the loss of over two months worth of precious data and I've been wracking my brain as to how we can prevent this from happening again. The logical solution would be to do our own back-up of DLO on a regular basis but we'd need a repository large enough to store the data until it could be archived. The only other solution I can think of is to make a copy of any reports etc. before we post them so that they are not forever lost if DLO crashes again, God forbid! The upside is that we are what makes DLO tick and we haven't been swallowed up in cyberspace. We're still here and Damien is still singing for us and that's what it's all about. There is so much to look forward to in the coming months and even though we're feeling gutted at the moment, come the 26th we'll have Catch The Wind to listen to and chatter about and the tour kicks off not long after. I think we need a big group hug.

I wonder is pro boards tried a system restore, taking it back a few days to before this disaster happened, I've done it, I wonder if they can? Just as thought

Princey, I think that is exactly what proboards did, the only problem is they could only take it back to Feb, which I think was to do with the upgrade! don't quote me on that, I'm trying to remember when the upgrade actually took place. edit: yes just checked and it was early Feb. We've obviously had a bug in the system since that time, and they needed to restore it back to before the uprgrade date.

I'd like to see everyone get back on and start posting..there are so many people who are coming on and not posting at the moment and we need to pick up our bundle and start, as Neski said, making new excitement and babble. And repost some thoughts/photos from the lost period - it mightn't be the same but it's still a record- esp photos. And to stay on topic... ..there..I've vented....now back to the forum

awhh *hugs*
do you have a place you all go to if this forum temporarily goes down? I mention this cos we had some problems years ago over at another one and it was reassuring there was somewhere else people all headed to during the problem to at least be in contact and not be completely lost. I guess the sony one?
what happened was they decided to upgrade the official site in the week of album release and took most of the week with it offline GRRRRRR it was hopeless
that said Im sure there will be no more problems here :-) heres to the forum! and ongoing fun and excitement and damien support, onwards and upwards!!! this is a wonderful forum, damien is lucky to have such support and committment
