Lol Maggie! I like Time in a Bottle too And Carla I agree about Alone. Damien said it was his favourite on the album and you can tell, when he played it on the last tour it was so powerful, the sound almost flowed off the stage and hit you like a wave

Agreed Hyp. Alone is the most stunning song. I was listening to it again the other as I hadn't heard it in a while (been playing CTW), and I had forgotten how much I love it! I only got to hear Damien sing it at Star City and he sounded sooooooooo beautiful! I too like Time in a Bottle, I didn't know it before CTW and it has really grown on me. It is up there near the top of the list

I'm not sure if anyone else has done this, but after listening to CTW several times I went back and listen to WWL and I listened to the songs and thought "gee, I never noticed just how well crafted all this is". I mean, I knew it was good before, but now I just better understand how much arrangement and thought has gone into every aspect of it. On Idol too, you knew Damien wasn't letting John Foreman or someone make all the decisions and just going 'yep, tell me what to sing", he was actively deciding what to do and rearranging the songs and directing the rest of the music ensemble. I don't think it hit me until I heard the sheer amount of versatility and creative innovation on the new album, especially since I already knew some of the songs. When you listen to WWL you don't hear the result of hours of decision-making and deliberation; you just hear beautiful music, which is how it should be. To be a real singer, and not just a performer who does what they're told, you can't just have a good voice, you have to have a high level of musicality as well, and this guy has them both in spades

Agree about Damien's arrangements Hyper . All the way through the contest thought he was so far better than the others because of his wonderful interpretations and arrangements He really is a true artist and with his production work it becomes even more obvious....sighhhhhh

Another couple to add to the list (yes Kath, what HAVE you done? ) The Reason: Hoobastank (and yes I know Anthony Callea did it on Idol but I think Damien would do an even better version!) She will be Loved: Maroon 5 Kiss from a Rose: Seal (one of my all time fave songs) And just to reinforce how thrilled I am that Damien has done Never Meant to Fail and Never Tear Us Apart! SJ...I am obsessed with Somewhere Only we Know by Keane and everytime I hear it (or see the clip), I can imagine D singing it too!

Yes Myst that's one I'm hoping to hear. I think I already mentioned it in this thread. Or maybe not, but I meant to. It would be interesting to hear how good Damien was at songwriting when he had only just started. Ooh yes Carla - The Reason and She Will Be Loved, I love those songs and I've tried to imagine how they would sound being sung by Damien and I think they would be awesome (obviously ).
