The support act was the same as at the Brass Monkey - Allanah *someone*. She came on at 9 with a guitarist and finished about 9.45
During the break before Damien came on they were sowing the forthcoming shows on the back wall behind the stage in a slideshow effect. Imagine our surprise hen we looked up when it started to see a big picture of Damien there
We all let out a simultaneous yelp/yahoo/clap/squee
. I think that our noise happened out of nowhere you could hear the rest of the audience stop what they were doing and all eyes were on us
As womby said, our table became decorated
Carla had brought along a lovely red Christmas tree candle (which we didn't light), tinsel, Christmas serviettes,bon bons, plus we had the Santa hats
There was an exchange by several people of Christmas cards, scratchy tickets (
Dawn is in the money now), candy canes, home made choccies, and a lovely bookmark with a gorgeous photo of Damien on the other side (which of course now is the main side
)
Thank you very much to all the little Santas on our table
#1.
It was great to catch up with the members that we don't get to see all that often. :xmashug: Womby, :xmashug: Morgs who showed us some photos of little Master 8 months (what a cutie
)
At 10 pm Damien made an appearance. Some of us had already popped ourt bon bons but Morgs and I hadn't. We had made an arrangement that we would pop it when Damien came out. Have I told you that we were the front table?
#1At the appropriate time we both pulled on our ends of the bon bon, but it was a bit of a fizzer really, so it didn't have the 'welcome to our Christmas party' feel to it. I don't think Damien even saw or heard it.
When Damien started to talk he made reference to the ladies down there wearing the 'naughty hats'
After he sang 'Catch the Wind', the first song of the night he started one of his stories about receiving knickers on tour and right on cue
, not once but
5 times.
Poor Damien, they were coming from everywhere. Well, I shouldn't really say that, they were coming from the direction where Dawn and
;D were sitting,.
There were some pretty nice liottle numbers amongst that lot let me tell you.
Oh to have a butt that small again *sigh*
That is when we were told about Indi having lots of friends in the audience and how she was given the job of picking the setlist.
I must say that Damien sings IF so well. It is breathtaking
He then started to talk about his dancing skills and how he has been improving them since 'Celebration' on Idol. He then performed his sexy moves.
hoots/ yippees from us
He then did his story about 22 Steps and he changes the story a little bit each time. Metric conversion has taken over and he was no longer 11 'at the wall'. Last night he was 9
At the end of the song he sang the normal last line 'I 'd know your birthday wish and added 'and I would meet you at the wall'.
Someone from our table
then yelled out 'what time would you like me there? or something like that
Damien then said that he was going to sing a song that he hadn't done for quite a while and that it was the single that he released after Idol
We were all excited because it is a favourite of a lot of us, for sentimental reasons at least, but I happen to really like the song.
So Night Of My Life was sung with audience participation.
Back for Part 2 in a minute......
