YOUR Catch the Wind Tour HIGHLIGHTS!

I don't have many memories to choose from, since I only went to one concert. But I was thinking, especially for the people who didn't get to go to any of the concerts (e.g. Belinda ), but still felt involved through reading people's reports and looking at photos, it would be good if we could all get involved in this thread, by posting our favourite memories of reports. Like you know when you're just sitting there waiting for people to return and then all of a sudden they post some really exciting news (or a really hawt pic or video ) and everyone starts madly replying and asking more questions. Those kinds of memories would also be cool to read about.

Love this concept shimmery
but it's also super hard:

1. because there would be too many moments for me to write about and
2. if only I wouldn't immediately turn into a quivering brainless shell moving about in the twilight D-zone... and forget everything!! except .... siiiiiigh.

Favourite Song Performance

"Beautiful" at Lizottes Aug '08. A beautiful quiet beginning, then at the end Damien just went for it vocally like I've never seen him before in this song and it was amazing - perfection!

"Baby I Love Your Way/Fall at Your Feet" - The Vanguard, Dec '08. Again, Damien was right into his zone, his performance of this song was stunning.

"If" at the Brass Monkey, Dec '08. Utterly sublime and utterly beautiful. Absolute perfection - again!

Favourite Amazing Vocal moment

"Creep" at the Brass Monkey, Dec '08. Damien at his absolute best, the crowd gasping then spontaneously cheering through the song at what he was doing. Awesome!!


Favourite "Goosebump" magical moment

"Hallelujah" at the Basement 1st Show, Jun '08. We were at the very front table that night & could see he was so unwell and knew it must have been killing him to sing the big notes. He could so easily have pulled back but instead when he got to the huge note at the end of his favourite song Damien gave it his all and sang the high note so strongly and purely - the best I've ever heard him sing it. We all stood and applauded. I was brought to tears and not able to hide it, it was the bravest performance I've ever seen.

"Catch the Wind" - the Basement 2nd Show, Jun '08 (the night of the filming). The first song that night, and as the gentle first notes of the intro were being played we all held our breath. There was a tangible feeling in the room that night that everyone there was totally with Damien and knew what an important night it was for him. Then, he came out and sang - so beautifully. The energy was sparkling around the whole room, Damien was on fire & the audience in return was so responsive - it truly was magical.

Hearing Damien sing "Nessun Dorma" in a large space like Dee Why, just his voice in the stillness and you could hear a pin drop, the audience spellbound. Spine tingling.


Favourite Musical Arrangement of a song

"Beautiful" - in its full glory at the Basement with Damien on grand piano, Eric & Jimmy both on guitar and Indi on Violin. Just so sad this was not included on the tv special.

Damien's latest guitar arrangement of "Message to My Girl" - I hope so much that he keeps this forever more on his set list, just gorgeous!!!


Favourite Instrumental moment by Damien

Playing keyboard/piano for "Beautiful" and "Lilac Wine" and his guitar for "Catch the Wind" and "Creep"


Favourite Instrumental moment by one of the band (eg a solo, or your fav instrument in a song perhaps)

Eric's intro to "Wicked Game" and solo in "Wild World"

Indi's violin in "Beautiful", "Wicked Game" & "Danny Boy"

Jimmy's guitar in "Message to My Girl"


Favourite Onstage Moment (laughs, banter etc)

The "Hotel California" 'false start' with Eric to "Wicked Game" gorgeous bonus song and funny as well!

The Irish Dancing and the music that goes with it!

Damien's audience count-ins - lol especially when they come with no warning and can be a count of 3 or 4, who knows, and we all end up lost and collapsed laughing

The "meet me at the wall" end to "22 Steps"

well, there we go and somehow I haven't even scratched the surface but that was great to think back over so many incredible shows - I could have added so many more special moments the more I think about it, this is just my "llte" list of highlights!

;D ;D ;D Ditto to all! Spud I really agree with what you say too! If not able to get to concerts, reading other's reports, seeing photo's etc just love it. You still feel part of it. Only attending 3 shows my hilights would be...........Meeting the man himself.......(and this was thru the assistance of other fellow fans)..........and meeting some of the other fans(who not only took my pic with the man himself, but assisted me to get onto DLO as had been unable too). ;D ;D ;D My favourite venue, well choice is out of 2 places only, but Milano's over the crown. I love the up close intimate type concert. Sit for dinner, talk to others and then be really entertained. Anyway have more to think on so will post again, when brain not so weary. This was a great idea as a thread to start. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Favourite Song Performance - Gawd this is hard isn't it...I think it was when he sang Beautiful at was it Doylo. When I was sitting next to Carla and it was the best I had ever heard him sing it.

Yes Maggiemay that was at Canterbury, was so much fun I also really enjoyed our cake and coffee afternoon tea Hut there

I was working on mine during January before I went away, and I saved it but I haven't looked at it since. I'll have to get it out again and finish it sometime soon.

There were so many highlights this tour, even reading now I can think of so many more highlights I couldn't even fit onto my original list! It was such an awesome time, I love to think back and remember it and read everyone else's memories too
