After hearing the previews, I was drawn to listening to a couple of old albums, Coldplay's 'Rush Of Blood To The Head' and 'X & Y'....I had remembered that when I first listened to them, there was a big rush from the huge sound and the big anthemic numbers. Well, I was right...I got the same rush from listening to these previews We've heard from others about who this album sounds like...Radiohead, Muse, Killers, Snow Patrol, Keane (and I'd like to add Coldplay to the mix!)...and it does remind of them, but I can also hear that very unique D quality as well...lyrically and vocally. My god, his voice just sounds so good on many of these tracks To my ears, TGTY doesn't sound like the strongest track on the album when compared to these other songs, but I can understand why it was chosen...its pacy and driven. I really hope that Sony gives Damien the chance to release subsequent singles from this album, there seem to be quite a few there I think I'm going to really like this album

WOW!I had forgotten how good Golden Line sounds! WOW! Put me straight back into the mode I was in at the LP! (Well, I didn't bounce in my seat this time. ) And I can't believe it, after trying to remember Forgive, Forget ever since the LP, it turns out to be one of the songs from the video blogs! And I just realised I even wrote that down when I did my songlist at the LP, but completely forgot until now. But anyway, HOW GOOD IS FORGIVE, FORGET! Funtarstic song! And I looooove Wouldn't Change A Thing, love the lyrics and the high parts. To Get To You really stands out, I can definitely understand why it was picked as the single. I think Golden Line or Forgive, Forget would do just as well though! Finally, Unordinary World! Love it, love it! Has it been changed? The start of it doesn't sound familiar at all, but it's awesome! ;D I WANT THE ALBUM RIGHT NOW!

I have similiar thoughts re the comparisons out there we've been seeing to other albums - I suppose it's necessary in a way to have the comparisons because we always want benchmarks by which to understand and describe what we are hearing to those who haven't heard it before but I still stand by my first reaction to when I first heard Remember June at the preview - I've never heard anything like this album, it's unique - and my overwhelming reaction was that DAMIEN LEITH'S SONGWRITING, SINGING and ARRANGEMENTS are ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!! [/i] I'm loving this taster of the album so much, wow it's almost impossible to believe that it's even better than I remembered, but it is!! I'm jumping all over the place with which one I love best tonight from the sampler, I'm loving the intricacies of the sound and really hearing them to their full impact now. During the preview night I wrote down that my favs on the actual recording were "Sorry" & "Don't Give Up" which aren't even among the samplers - there are so many strong songs on this album, it's so fantastic, it's one of those albums everyone will want to sit and listen through the WHOLE album as an entity - bring on next week and the full gloriousness of REMEMBER JUNE! Edit - meant to say also - OMG the purity of Damien's voice there on "Wouldn't Change a Thing" - DIVINE! I love the husky/rock/raw side to his voice as well in the other songs - it's so brilliant that he can sing so purely and also belt it out as well - CANNOT WAIT for the live shows, they are going to go off!!!

Winter, I definitely agree with your Coldplay comparisons! ;D Also, Unordinary World sounds very Irish. Listening to this is bringing back so many nice memories. Can't wait to hear these songs LIVE!

Forgive Forget is also one of those ones I thought was a "running through the fields" type when those driving drums kick in there like that, one of those big sweeeeeeeeeeping landscape songs (aaaaaaah how great is this hearing them again!!!!!!)

Just reading everyone's thoughts makes me at the memory of the LP and spud I remember being totally gobsmacked by Damien's voice in Stay (although I can't remember how it goes ) -it has just stayed with me since then..and Goodnight - the drums & guitar in that was O.M.G. and these two songs aren't even on the mashup! Winter there are soooo many great songs on this album they would be really struggling to pick one out.. I hope we get lots of singles off it..Forgive Forget..OMG that song is just spine-chillingly fantastic!!

After a few lot more listens, (as well as after listening to some of The Script's songs today), I can hear similarities between Forgive, Forget and The Script's music, as well as Muse. I can hear Snow Patrol and Brian McFadden in Wouldn't Change A Thing and Unordinary World (I think Brian worked with Stuart though, so that could be why I'm hearing that). Forgive, Forget also has a similar sound to a lot of the Leaf/ReLeaf music, and I can hear a bit of a Mick McHugh sort of sound in Unordinary World. The songs also remind me of Lisa Mitchell's music, but it's not because of the singing, it's just that Lisa uses a lot of cool little sound effects like the ones in these songs. BUT! Despite all that, the songs are still very unique! AND I LOVE THEM ALL!

Loving all the tracks sooooo much..but the purity and sheer heartmelting gorgeousness of D's voice on Wouldn't Change A Thing absolutely knocks me out. I can remember saying, as soon as it finished the first time I heard it, that it was DVINE. The lyrics and melody of this beautiful ballad, plus the extraordinary quality of Damien's singing, makes this also really something special. I adore it. WANT IT ALL!! NOWWWWWWWWWWW!!
