Couldn't stay around ealier as my sister came to visit with me. I've just downloaded the performance! Thank you SO much GJ! That was funtarstic!!! OMG, to think a 'piano man' can still make the blood rush through my body!! I cannot wait to see this on the DVD my sis is saving for me!! As far as I'm concerned, winning these awards are nowhere near as important as all the other things Damien has in his life (Eileen, Jarvis, bump, family, amazing talent, devoted fans, and he's blessed with charisma and mega sensuality, etc.). However, I am happy he was nominated and that I voted for him, and I'll do it again. I'm sure performers/artists like to receive whatever awards are going, even though it isn't why they do what they do, and I want to give Damien whatever support he needs and wants cuz he's a sweet man! Runs back to watch the download again. *sigh* Thx again GJ.  |

Isn't he just amazing? Thanks gj for uploading the file, I couldn't wait for everyone to see Damien tonight. He looked like the consummate professional that he is and so much more than just the 'current Australian Idol'. Damien has mentioned that he always wanted to attended the Australian MTV Awards and there he was tonight not only nominated for two awards but also performing live on stage in front of his peers. I think he left the Acer Arena this evening a very happy man and any awards would have only been a bonus. I'm not feeling any negativity toward the show because Damien didn't win an award. I honestly feel that he was the only performer worth watching tonight. The rest of the 'talent' and 'celebrities' didn't do a thing for me. As Kami said - I think it's awesome that he's holding his own in the pop arena and in more alternative circles too, but if we had to choose for him whether he would win awards decided by slaves to popular culture or be respected by music lovers... I'm sure the choice would be easy. I agree Kami, I'm a music lover and like to be entertained by an artist. Damien does that for me every time I listen to him. That's the end of my waffle. There's a new baby, a new single, a new album, a new book and an international tour to look forward to. Life is good.  |

wow, I've just read some of this thread, since I've been busy watching the show I couldn't come on. I have to say there is a bit of negativity going on..... The MTV awards would of been a big thing if Damo had won, but now alot of you are saying they aren't. Damo did us proud tonight with his performance, it was a kickass performance and he belted out NOML to a massive crowd that really enjoyed it. I'm sure that meant more to him than an award. An Award would of just been a bonus to him, so lets just be happy that he got to go to the Awards, was nominated in 2 catagories and got to perform as well.  Well Done Damo...it was awesome!  Well said Roxy! I'm just downloading the vid.... love the red carpet pics!  Thanks to gj & winter-we are so thankful you can do this!  And the DLO award!!! Just brilliant! Looks good up there on the banner! Damien's all that and more!!! |

I have been very negative about these Awards, and that's just the way it is. It would not have made much difference had Damien won the awards. If he had done, I would have been very happy, but it would not have given MTV much credibility to me. One time a few years ago (when I wanted to see someone I liked) I have seen a bunch of obnoxious, egotistic louts snearing into their microphones, and that's just the presenters. It's all busy, loud and flashy and thrashy. That's MTV's style, even if I was 14 years old I probably wouldn't like it.
I'm glad the only thing I saw of that show was Damien's very fine performance. He was so incredible, it's made me a little scared to ever be in the same room as him again!

I feel your pain selestial I really do....but on the other hand...I love watching all those so called stars make idiots of themselves! Thats what MTV is all about and It just makes D look so much better. In fact Guy, Shannon and D were all fantastic last night. Thanks GJ for uploading the vid, D looks fantastic. Watching it last night, I was screaming at my TV...anyone would of thought I was actually there, he was just amazing, and that high note that he kept going FOREVER was pure magic! ;D Winter the banner looks fab.....was so nice to come on and see that all in place. Very fitting indeed! |
