15.4.11 Damien - Radio Interviews Friday

[Roxy]

wow, what an indepth interview on 2sm!!

Talked about how the album came about and general info about Roy etc.

Talked about his chemist days, his degrees and how he chose that career.
His Dad was a huge Roy fan, and his Aunty Eileen sang In Dreams which is also Damien's fav on the album and he had hoped that was the song he would be able to record.

His neighbour Matty? (I think that was his name) was also a massive fan of Roy and used to sing Roy songs at parties, said he sounded just like Roy.

Talked about his books and writing.

Asked D if there was anything he couldn't do...John Laws said that D was no Dill but we already knew that, he sure is gifted and very talented!
Damien said, well yes!! Dancing! mentioned DWTS, and said he didn't realise how bad he was, thought he was better than that! should be entertaining if nothing else!


good to hear them talking about the Tour in July ;D

Mentioned Dalby Flood relief on Sat, going with the band , John Laws said he'd like Dalby, the people there will take good care of him.
Uh Um.. I think some will take good care of him too!!

Said he's flying all over the place in the next few weeks

Mentioned baby Kikki, and that Jagger chose Kikki, and Jarvis chose Bo.

Said that Roy was able to reach an octave of 3 possibly 4!!


John laws finished by saying the album was released today through Damien's record company SONY, and that he would be in good hands!!! Hmmmmm!!

I enquired with 2CH about the interview. They said that Damien was booked for today. But because Bob Rogers is absent this week the interview has been postponed to next week "some time" when Bob gets back... stay tuned.

Damien was just on 5aa with Leon Byner, who I think is a creep, but he was glowing in his praise of the album, and played a montage of songs.
I didn't hear all the interview because I rang up to say hi
I asked about the Adelaide date for the concert and am now on hold to try to get tickets

Damien was at his delightful best!

Was listening to 702abc Sydney online for about three hours but there was no sign of an interview with D, as mentioned on damienleith.com.au

Was great to hear how supportive John Laws was of Damien and the new album! He's such a huge name in Sydney radio, for decades now. Fantastic interview and so much covered. I heard some of it on the day and that was my first hearing of "In Dreams" - WOW!!!


Just as an added story, late Friday night I put on the radio and very first thing I heard was the late night show on 2UE just as John Kerr mentioned Damien had a new album out, and he had the most fantastic things to say about Damien. He was telling all the listeners how Damien doesn't do impersonations, that he is an artist and his shows are definitely Damien Leith shows, but he does beautiful interpretations when he does covers. He then played Blue Bayou and at the end said "Damien, Damien, Damien!!!!!" He loved the song and the whole album & was just glowing recommending it to all the listeners!
