Honestly, who gives a toss what's said in the "Daily Terror?" It's such a rag! It won't be the only scathing remarks though, we'd best be prepared. It's funny, but i noticed D's legs are looking pretty healthy in Braff's TGIF pics. Maybe he's been working out? Agreed though, he does push himself hard and he'll have to carefully watch his diet to make sure he gets enough calories if he is in the comp for a while. Guess we'll be voting again, ladies! ! Also, he mentioned in his Punch article how he's wanted to dance since he was a kid, you're right, Dawnie, so this is his chance to learn. I'm kinda excited about seeing him learning to wiggle those hips! I have a bit of a yearning to see him doing a lovely elegant waltz, too! *siigh* Interesting times, hey kiddies?! ;D Totally agree with all you say Trilly,, we will have to watch his weight very carefully and we know he can kick up his heels..lets hope he can keep them down too..

Dancing With The Stars 2011 contestants confirmed for 11th series of Channel 7 shownews.com.au April 04, 2011 8:59pmNOW the 11 contestants in the new series of Dancing with the Stars have been confirmed, there are two big questions still to answer. For some, it's a case of "Who will win?" but for others it's just "Who are they?" Critics on social media and news sites have questioned the calibre of celebrity in the latest line-up. After 10 seasons, it must be tricky finding fresh talent. But the show's producers have at least one new twist on the old formula to help them spruik the show - for the first time a husband and wife (Nathan and Haley Bracken) are both vying for the prize. To help you decide whether to tune in or tune out this year, here's quick rundown to help get you up to speed on the new batch of stars:
Singer and songwriter Damien Leith - dancing with Melanie Hooper. Leith won Australian Idol back in 2006. His appearance on Dancing With The Stars coincides with the release of his new album Roy: A Tribute To Roy Orbison.www.news.com.au/entertainment/television/dancing-with-the-stars-2011-contestants-for-11th-series-of-channel-7-show/story-e6frfmyi-1226033604243Hitting the dance floor: New Channel 7 Dancing With The Stars contestants. Oops, I just saw you posted the info already Spud - Lol while I wrote my loooong post Good scoop with the big photo too! It'll be great to see more promo shots of Damien... soon? So good to see the new album "Roy" mentioned Waited till the end of Today Tonight to see Damien on - only a couple of seconds though. I'm looking forward to see him busting some moves on the show Melanie should be a good teacher - she's been a Latin American dance champion overseas. Gotta say that the comments on the DWTS website, so far, have been pretty vitriolic - I'd hate to be Lara or Brynne - I feel sorry for them. I think the guys seem to have been saved the scathing remarks - typical how it's the women who seem to attract most personal attacks from certain viewers whether it's for their morality or physical attributes! This may be the last time I'll read those blogs - I'm sure it'll get worse for them But back to happier topics: Apparently, they spent an 11 hour promo day on Saturday - no wonder he'd be weary -it's not just new bubby! ... Damien and the other contestants will have 6 weeks of before they go public. I think we'll be seeing a revival of those calves of steel woohoo! Meanwhile, betting odds have already been given on the dancers... Damien's not doing too badly in the line-up but I wonder what form guide Tom Waterhouse uses? blog.tomwaterhouse.com/chef-manu-has-recipe-for-dancing-success/

That betting list is different to the one that was just on Sunrise. Damien was in about 4th or 5th place above the Brackens and it had Lara and Brynne at the end. Jan Stephenson was above Damien. I must say I am disappointed with the promo's for this. Damien's name was barely mentioned on Today Tonight and then this morning his name wasn't mentioned at all yet the story was about this years contestants. He wasn't even mentioned when they were talking about the current betting odds. Also, I had Channel 7 on ALL last night (up until 2am) and they were having promos for DWTS all night with various contestants and NOT ONCE was there a promo featuring Damien.

I missed Today Tonight. So whose names were they mentioning? Probably the ones that will be voted off first. ;D

The same photo appeared in the Melbourne Herald Sun today too. The editorial was mostly about Lara Bingle and Brynne Edelstein with a line or two about , Manu Feildel and Jan Stephenson. Damien got a mention at the end with the 'others.' Whilst I was 'treadmilling' this morning I was listening to the Grubby and Dee Dee breakfast show. Dee echoed the opinion of many that they are running out of 'stars'. She mentioned Lara Bingle and Brynne Edelstein (and their claims to fame or infamy) going on at length about the quality of the performers this year, then said "2006 Australian Idol winner Damien Leith" with nothing derogitary, then just mentioned a couple of others. Have to admit that I thought the line up was pretty ordinary before I knew that Damien was going to be on. As far as I'm concerned, he's the only bloody STAR amongst them all!!! ... and it is a nice photo of him. Maybe that's what the trip to Melbourne was about?? I'm worried about Damien's stamina as are others, as apparently it's very physically challenging and time consuming so wonder how Eils will cope? On the other hand, exposure on X Factor didn't hurt Guy, so hopefully the exposure will help Damien too. (Guy's photo or something about him is in the paper here nearly every week) Wonder if Ch7 approached Damien, or if his management or Sony had something to do with it in relation to promoting the album?

Yeah, Damien very well may have to shave his chest hair for the "Paso Doble" if he is going to be wearing one of those little jackets undone all the way down the front.

Glawzy, I think Channel 7 has been after Damien for a while. Now that they have him, it might be a good idea if they made mention of it? However, I don't have a problem with D being a "dark horse". He was, to an extent, on Idol too, when Dean and Bobby were getting all the attention. I'm quite happy for him to work away quietly in the background and then come out and show us all just what he's made of! but *sob* Not teh chest hair! Noooooooooooooo! hmmm, but maybe, if we get to see more of " teh chest" it will be worth it? oow, D and a Paso Doble sounds wonderful!! ;D

This is really exciting news - the thought of seeing Damien doing all these dances is strangely exciting (ok, not strange to anyone else on the forum! ) I think he will do really well, he's got the music and he can kick a mean jig, so I think he will be a little surprise packet!! Can't wait to see it........ ;D On the 92.9 breakfast show this morning, they were going with the spin of it being "Dancing with the Who??" , and they got two people to ring in to see if they recognised more than six stars, and then it qualified for Dancing with the stars. They ranked the stars from who the radio show thought was the most well known, and I was really pleased to see Damien come in 3rd behind Lara & Manu, they certainly have a high profile, so it could be a good season for Damien ~ and of course you not only get to see his dancing but he can demonstrate his winning personality too!
