Armytage and Leith to headline Wishlist Spring Carnival Gala

This year’s Wishlist Spring Carnival Gala lunch will see two of the best performers on Dancing with the Stars on stage again together as Samantha Armytage and Damien Leith headline the fundraising event at the Hyatt Regency Coolum on September 16.
The high profile event will be hosted by Samantha from Seven’s Weekend Sunrise along with local radio jock, Todd Widdicombe while Damien promises to keep guests entertained with the sounds that have seen his new album, ‘Roy – A Tribute to Roy Orbison’ hold the top of the ARIA charts for the 12 weeks since its release.
The event which is sponsored by Coastline BMW amongst others, was oversubscribed before ticket sales opened with over 550 local business professionals and local celebrities set to raise funds for the support programs offered by the Sunshine Coast Koping Network (SCKoping).
Wishlist Manager, Lisa Rowe has already seen the great results these programs deliver for Sunshine Coast children who are affected by a parent or sibling who has a mental health or drug and alcohol condition.
“The camps hosted by the SCKoping network see children aged between 9 to 18 years enjoy a respite from their daily circumstances and provide a strong therapeutic component which aims to enhance children’s coping skills and resilience through a variety of modalities,” said Lisa.
“The incredible generosity of the Spring Carnival Gala guests every year has seen us achieve great things for Sunshine Coast Health services and we are hoping to raise over $120K to fund the SCKoping program camps for the next five years.”
“Every year this event exceeds our expectations and we are very grateful to Travis Schultz, the chair of the organising committee and his team as they pull together one of the most popular and well-supported charity events on the Coast.”
Last year’s event saw guests raise over $114K to build a new 4-bed paediatric bay in the Emergency Department at the Nambour General Hospital and with over 10 major auction items valued in excess of $5,000 and over 100 silent auction items under the hammer this year, organisers hope to exceed the target.
This year’s major auction items are all valued at over $5,000 and include a weekend at the high profile Magic Millions Carnival on the Gold Coast donated by Coastline BMW, seven nights at the ultra-luxurious Sea Temple in Port Douglas donated by Juniper, a Go Transit advertising package valued at over $22,000, laser eye surgery from Laser Sight and a painting from renowned local artist, Kendall.
“To have a waiting list within weeks of the last event taking place is really a unique position to be in and this year will certainly not disappoint with high profile celebrities joining us for the event and the added element of one of Australia’s most popular performers,” said Travis Schultz, managing partner at Schultz Toomey O’Brien Lawyers.
“This lunch enables us to really make a difference in the lives of children across the Coast and we couldn’t do it without the fantastic support of our sponsors, those donating auction items and our guests who support us so generously on the day.”
