TRACEY GILLINDER - This year’s Wishlist Spring Carnival Gala Lunch certainly proved beyond doubt that the Sunshine Coast can muscle up in the style stakes. Held in the Pavilion at the Hyatt Regency Coolum, guests bid on over 100 auction items during the course of the afternoon to raise funds for the Sunshine Coast Koping (SCKoping) program. The camps delivered by the program produce fantastic results for Sunshine Coast children who are affected by a parent or sibling who has a mental health or drug and alcohol condition.
In an impressive display of generosity, 550 of the Coast’s most high profile business people raised over $100,000 for a worthy cause with the support of Samantha Armytage, Damien Leith and a fully charged hip-hop dance and pop music group Justice Crew. Leith did more than entertain guests with loads of hits and tastes from his new album, Roy - A Tribute to Roy Orbison. Also impressive to see was a special guest musical talent play for more than a token two or three songs.
This event could go toe-to-toe with the Gold Coast’s swanky Black & Silver V8 Supercar Lunch (previously the Indy Lunch), and possibly even win in a lunch-off.
