The 2007 Formula One Australian Grand Prix just got a whole lot hotter with the announcement Hollywood hunk Matthew McConaughey is making the journey to Melbourne from the Gold Coast where he has been filming.
Shaping up to be one of showbiz's biggest events of the year, the grand prix is attracting some impressive international and local talent to the Albert Park event.
McConaughey will be joined by English actor Jason Statham and Swedish male model Marcus Schenkenberg.
An exceptional line-up of music artists and bands also has been locked in for the event, which begins on March 15 and ends with the grand prix on the 18th.
Winner of the 2006 series of Australian Idol Damien Leith will be joined by fellow Idol contestant Dean Geyer, who will both sing songs performed on the show on March 16.
Geyer has also put his hand up to compete against the likes of Jules Lund, Erin McNaught, Sarah McLeod and Shane Jacobson in the Celebrity Challenge.
Hot off the back of their Grammy award win, rock act Wolfmother will also perform on centre stage, as will dance act Sneaky Sound System, New Zealand band Evermore and West Australian rockers Little Birdy.
Chief executive officer of the Australian Grand Prix Corporation Tim Bamford says the event, now in its 11th year in Melbourne, is bigger and better then ever.
"It is nothing short of a coup to have secured some of the biggest names in the Australian music scene," Bamford said.
"Not only is this the only place in the country to see the world's fastest cars, but it also now boasts an unparalleled billing of the hottest acts in the country right now."
