Watched from the beginning and has been a few highlights, best of the night so far for mine was the duet with Gurrumul and Missy Higgins, the duet with Gotye & Kimbra and the memorium song by Delta of The Day You Went Away. All gorgeous moments. Loved that Molly was there for Kylie's Hall of Fame moment too. Would have been great if Damien won his category but so happy also that Billy Thorpe won for his masterpiece final album. Beautiful and fitting for a legend of decades to have that final mark of respect from his industry and a very special moment to see his family accept the award. Haven't seen Damien on the broadcast yet but there are some gorgeous pics of him and Eils from the red carpet, the one linked above from Braffy is also on popsugar.com.au 's gallery and Damien himself tweeted a great pic from their car on the way to the show. Love the lace on Eil's top, she looks absolutely stunning and how cool is Damo's suit!! Gorgeous tie/shirt combo, has the complete primo-suave rocker look!! I have to agree with most of your comments, Shims. I particularly enjoyed the performances from Gurrumul and Missy Higgins, also Gotye and Kimbra, plus Boy and Bear (have their album!) ;D and The Living End. It was also wonderful to see the presentation returning to a formal awards show, although still laced with muso cool. Last year's telecast did little to promote Aussie music. This year's was a resounding success in that sense, and as entertainment, I think, as well as being a night for the industry to celebrate. Damien achieved so much to be nommed in such a talent- laden category. I'm pleased for Billy Thorpe's family that he won and would not have been surprised if Mark Seymour had taken it out either. As someone said very wisely on D's FB. Page, he doesn't need another ARIA to prove that he has won his fans hearts with Roy. T'would have been nice on his mantlepiece though.

Rant: I'm so biast but I don't care!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D What a crock of s*** The standard of the Aria's cease to amaze me every year, I mean it's getting worse and worse. And I can't believe I sat through all that crap, and then to watch Damien get robbed of his nomination. Well done Aria *claps sarcastically* I know he was up against John Farham, but still! HE DESERVED IT!!!! FFS!!!!! Okay, I'm done. I Damien. Ummmmm Kinda agree here Found it a bit boring --Would have loved Damien to be performing there with his full band and you could throw in Guy's drummer boys as well -What about "Running Scared "or "In Dreams" how do you think that would have went After seeing Damien perform during his "ROY" tour it tends to make the lot last night a bit-- -- Ho Hum--

Sorry about my previous post everyone. I know Damien was over the moon to just be nominated, we all were. ;D And I'm not dissing the other nominees in D's cateogory. It just upsets me, when Damien has done all this hard work, espesh after everything that's happened, and yeah... It happened to Human Nature aswell, who I love to bits and are Aussie music legends. It took them 16 nom's before they won, and they've been in the business for 22 years. Anywho, Damien is so much more then an Aria! He is Grammy material!

Krissy, you don't need to apologise for loving D and wanting him to win. We all would have loved him to perform too.

I only just realised what it is, that was lacking on this show. You know how on most award shows, when they announce the nominees, they put the camera on those people, and then show them all as the winner is announced (it's nice to see peoples reactions). There was none of that, which to me gave the show a less personal appeal. Either they didn't have the budget for the camera operators or perhaps only a small percentage of the nominees turn up (or are invited??) and it wouldn't look good to show that off. For example John Farnham was nominated, I have no idea if he was actually there?

Yep, agree with you all - Crackling Rose, Brian, Krissy. I had recorded the show on the offchance that Damien would win but when he didn't I pretty much FFwd through the whole lot, just stopping for the Kylie bit, but couldn't be bothered with the rest, it seemed very boring. I think the winners already know Deb, they always seem to be ready to jump off their seats when it's announced - could be wrong. I honestly don't know why they don't use Damien Talent on so many shows these days - they bring these ageing has-beens from overseas and they're often dreadful.

So proud of D for being nominated and he so deserved to be there on the night.
