Is there nothing Damien Leith can't do? He is an Australian Idol winner who sings like an angel. He has hit records, he writes books, he recently came pretty close to winning Dancing With The Stars and now he has his own cooking show. The idea is for the Dame to kind of hang around and host some of Australia's most accomplished food editors as they demonstrate, hands on, how to create magic in the kitchen. Celebrities drop by with their favourite dishes on hand, and there are segments on market awareness and what to look out for when you go food shopping. Barb Northwood, food director of New Idea magazine, is the first celebrity up to the plate. And her ultimate recipe? Prawn cocktail. Yes, prawn cocktail. This is the New Idea test kitchen after all. It's definitely not Gourmet Traveller. "We all love prawns, and we all love cocktails, say no more", says the Dame, missing the point slightly, before pouring mayonnaise and yoghurt into a nice big bowl, as Northwood directs. Maggie Beer can rest easy in her bed tonight.

I like the idea that D is "kinda just hanging around" I think it wil make things very casual, friendly and relaxed - and who doesn't love a good prawn! Yummo! I'm not expecting culinary masterpieces, just good food I can prepare myself.

Definitely complimentary to Damien, I agree Kath. He has earned it, as we all know.

So they're basically doing recipes that most people will be able to do successfully and maybe even bother to do them
