www.noise11.com/news/tommy-emmanuel-and-damien-leith-spread-christmas-joy-20111212Tommy Emmanuel and Damien Leith Spread Christmas Joyby Paul Cashmere on December 12, 2011 Tommy Emmanuel and Damien Leith recently popped into the studio for a whirlwind two-hour recording session and have now delivered their first Christmas collaboration ‘When A Child Is Born’. The song is featured on Tommy’s festive album ‘All I Want For Christmas’. “I am overjoyed to have recorded this beautiful song with Damien. He is a fine singer and a true gentleman. Happy Xmas to all and keep on enjoying the music!” Tommy said in a statement. “Recording with Tommy Emmanuel has really capped off a wonderful year of music. Tommy is an icon and I am immensely proud of our Christmas collaboration,” said Damien. The collaboration comes in the year Damien went platinum with ‘Roy’, his tribute album to Roy Orbison, was a runner-up in Dancing With The Stars and welcomed new daughter Kiki Bo. The ‘When A Child Is Born’ single and Tommy’s ‘All I Want For Christmas’ are both available now.

Paul Cashmere doesn't normally have anything nice to say about Damien so I was surprised to read this. Then I realised that the nice things that were said were by Tommy (about Damien). Paul did add the bit at the bottom, however....Kikki is spelt with 2 k's and he left off the part about Damien hosting New Idea: Test Kitchen. HOWEVER - he has mentioned the ROY is PLATINUML It is still showing as GOLD on the ARIA chart.

Damien mentioned in Mt Gambier that it hadn't quite gone platinum yet, but now its back in the charts it may just be there any time now

I was inspired by something else that Paul Cashmere wrote yesterday we can presume the gift-giving season has led to Damien Leith’s Roy re-enterting at 47 so I went and ordered a ROY CD for my sister in law for Christmas ;D www.noise11.com/news/buble-trumps-black-keys-and-winehouse-on-aria-chart-20111212(I didn't post the article yesterday because it wasn't about Damien, just that one line) Let's think about it..... Roy came out in April. OK, that might include gift giving for Easter and Mothers Day. It was a long time between Mothers Day in May to Fathers Day in Sept. The album was in the ARIA chart ALL that time and then after Fathers Day for another month or two. I don't see what relevence there is to gift giving for the long term successful run this album has had.

I think he just meant that Christmas was the reason Roy re-entered the charts, not that seasons of gift-giving were the only things contributing to sales of Roy over the 8 months it's been out.

I think you're correct, Spud. It's great (and rather satisfying) ;D to see Paul C having to acknowledge that Damien had a great year in 2011. After all, this was the journalist who said that D was just another "roadkill" after he won Idol . Damien having a thriving career five years later must really stick in his craw.
