I've been listening to Now and Then on and off all day after downloading on Itunes last night, and brought my physical copy from Sanity today also!!! They had 8 huge posters hanging around the shop, and NOW and THEN was on top of two cd stands
The back cover is WOW!!! holy shit pick me up off the floor
That is one gorgeous photo!!
Loved that Damien gave the Damienites a special mention, thanks D
I also noticed that only 3 songs were recorded in Nashville, "Maybe Someday", "End of the Line" and "Here comes the Sun".
ok, on with the music!!! ;D
End of the Line: I really love this song, always have and Damien has done it absolute justice!! Can't wait to hear this in concert
Beautiful: Is still gorgeous!! Sounds alot softer and I quite like the piano. I must admit I also like the version with the Indi intro and Eric mix. But it's still nice and loved it on YTT the other night.
Got my Mind Set on You: I really like this and it will go off at the shows also.
Maybe Someday: GORGEOUS!!!! and WOW at those high notes, jeez wonder how many lightbulbs D's had to change in his house!!!
I think I was holding my breath when I got to that part! I'm not sure about it being a single though, more a belter with the band!! Love it though!!
Here Comes the Sun: A real crowd pleaser, a great sing along and love D's cover of it!!
Let me Be Your Rescue: BRILLIANT!!! Love it, Love it!! and those drums that come in, just get me going! and then, Damien draws from the bottom of somewhere and comes out with that awesome power in his voice and I'm just left going...
This is one of my favs!!
I'll Be Your Baby Tonight: This is good, I almost feel drunk listening to it
probably because I just heard the lyrics (bring that bottle over here)
ok not really making much sense here
Damien's version of this is quite Sexy!!!
I like it.
I won't back Down: I love Tom Petty, so this was always going to be a great cover done by Damien! and he hasn't disappointed at all. Although, I do hear him almost (trying) to sound like Petty when he sings a few words, not sure if that's intentional or just hard not to do, as Petty has a unique sound.
500 Reasons: What a shock this is to me!! yesterday I really didn't like this song at all! Well blow me down, today it's the one song I've been listening to the MOST!!
and I can't stop listening to it.
I love how the music softens and you only hear Damien, for some reason, I love most songs that do that! not sure what it's called, but I love it! and this is such a grower and could overtake nearly all of them before long!!
only thing I find annoying is the title, it reminds me of 500 Miles and I keep going to call it that!!
Leah: Lovely song, love the rich DEEP tones but the song isn't my fav cover. I suppose because it wasn't a song I'm that familiar with. I'd love Damien to write a song for that deep voice, it's so powerful.
Run: This song is great and it builds beautifully. Very catchy and I love the deepness of Damien's voice in parts and then those DRUMS kick in!!
beautiful!! only fault, is I find Sinead? sounds quite countryish singing, and I think if it was just sung like the rest of the song it would sound even better.
I can't get it out of my Head: This one I'm not so sure about
very country and I would of much preferred a version closer to the original I think, but in saying that, it could be fun at the shows!!! Yeeehaa!!
Unless You Say So: Out of all the originals, this one confuses me. I'm just not sure how I feel, I love the begining, soft and acoustic, then I feel it goes country all of a sudden, but then after a bit it's...no wait...it's Irish, and then there is a couple of parts in it that feel Polynesian with the clapping and harmonies!! probably just me right?
wow what a mix! I love the lyrics they are great. It's a grower I can feel it! ;D
I think Damien's originals on this album absolutely shine through and are the stand outs for sure!! Brilliant concept having the mixture of Originals and Covers. Well done Damien, this really is another great album you can be proud of!
