Sorry to take so long to report, but here it is. Support act was Mick McHugh, a lovely Irishman married to an Australian He was a bit of a one man band, played guitar and harmonica, and also had a very small drum/tambourine/bells on the floor that he used his foot on. Also for two of his songs he had a cello player come on. He was very talkative (Eric made a joke about that) and even had a chat in the middle of a couple of songs. Short interval, then the band. The venue is a good one, but last night there were only the stalls occupied. Last year for the Roy tour, the dress circle was full too. Damien had on dark pants that he later said were velvet (and that Eric was giving him heaps about ), a black shirt and a charcoal suit cut jacket - very good look. Eric on the other hand looked a bit daggy ;D Set list: Unless You Say So Won't Back Down Not Just For the Weekend Here Comes the Sun - great live Beautiful semi 2012 - not my fav version, but this song is never a disappointment, whatever the arrangement You Got It Leah I'll Be Your Baby Tonight Running Scared That glory note!! Wouldn't Change a Thing Hallelujah Handle Me With Care Maybe Someday Damien said this is his fav composition of the last couple of years Wicked Game Let Me Be Your Rescue End of the Line Encore Got My Mind Set On You Pretty Woman - broken up with band solos (Eric did Money for Nothing) and a bit of Gloria I thought it was a pretty good mix, although D said when we chatted later they had 4 more on the list but thought they had gone on long enough! Not long enough for the crowd, which was predictably mostly middle aged but got into it pretty well. Or me I didn't think there was quite as much energy as we usually see, but it was the first gig and I think that may have had something to do with it. Also Steve missed his flight, so he might have got there rather late There was a meet and greet after, and we were pretty much on the end of the line. Great to get a spontaneous hug and kiss, had a good chat (I said Julie was sorry to miss out but she was at the Paralympics and D was very impressed). He did suggest there might be concerts in smaller venues in about February, so we might get a road trip in next year Surprisingly, the camera Nazis, usually prevalent at this venue, were away, so I got some photos, a couple of them surprisingly good. Sorry to take up so much room, but I am in a hurry and can't work out how to take the spaces out. The one of Cesar isn't brilliant but put it in cos he was playing the 'small guitar'.

Lookin gorgeous there, Mr L! Very nice shots Kath. ;D Gotta love D in dark colours. Oow velvet pants huh? So, half originals and half covers. Good mix, I agree, by the sound of things. Although D, Please don't be shy about doing 22 songs instead of 18 at The Palms. We won't mind at all! *cough* Interesting to hear that Maybe Someday is D's fave recent original. It's an awesome song which astonishes live. I bet the audience loved it! Thanks for taking the time to write up your report Kath. Appreciate it. Yay, so happy D's on the road again!

Thanks Kath, now you got me excited Great pics, does he ever sing with his eyes open ? LOL I was going to send D a request on Face book and ask him, seeing the vibe was for lots of originals that he please play WOULDN'T CHANGE..., coz it's been such a long time since I've heard him sing it! it's on the set list without me even saying anything, D & I are so on the same wavelength love it !! And it's an RJ song, so maybe there is the hope that he will include at least one in every show . And WICKED GAME one of my faves, and PRETTY WOMAN rocks the house down No CRYING , but seems like he might have this one on interchange with HALLELUJAH, these days. Can't wait for the high notes in MAYBE... and those rich deep notes at the end of LET ME BE... . I thought he may leave RUN off the list if he didn't have a girl voice to help him out. Maybe you'll get it at the shows that Diana is doing. I just had a thought, we still never found out who the female voice was on RUN. Maybe it was Diana and they has to keep it quiet because of THE VOICE rules (as in, what happened to Carmen) coz it's funny that he's never given it away. It is definately a great set list, but four more would be even better Thanks again Kath, me next.... D is so...... One more

D sang WCAT on his own, with just a guitar, and although it is one of my favs, I didn't think it was as good like that. DH also thought it was vocally the poorest of the night, although that doesn't mean it wasn't good

Just we we needed Kath, thank you for such a great report... I really feel the vibes. You next Deb, look forward to hearing from you too. Great set list too, would have loved even more originals but one can't complain.... they are all good songs (I'm personally not keen on I'll be your baby tonight, but didn't like it originally either) - but with D singing it live, I'm sure I can stand it Yes please Damien, you can squeeze in as many extra songs as you like. You were fortunate to have a meet and greet Kath. Sounds like Damien looked luscious. Only a week from tomorrow until we see him in Launceston Counting down the days!
