WOW! Well done 2CH for a fabulous special hour focused on Damien and his new album! These songs were played in full : Leah I'll Be Your Baby Tonight End of the Line Night of My Life Maybe Someday Here Comes the Sun Got My Mind Set on You Can't Get it Out of My Head Crying Beautiful 2012 I Won't Back Down Between the songs Mardi discussed various topics with Damien, she mentioned he had come into the studio yesterday to record their interview and she was very impressed with his amazing voice. Damien discussed growing up in Kildare, his early travels & living in Africa and how the family would sing the Irish songs to remember home and how he grew up on those. Then how he was in his early band with his brothers and sister and how they tried things out in America, then he married and moved to Australia. How life was settled and he had a good steady job as a QA Manager at the pharmaceuticals company before Idol - and then of course his whole world turned about to another direction. Then there was chat about the album and it being a blend of originals and the members of the Wilburys as a follow on from Roy and how Damien was taking his originals in this particular direction as it was and it all seemed to blend so well for this concept. He also mentioned how he loved the original Here Comes the Sun and so was happy to be able to bring a Beatles one into the mix too via being George's, and how his treatment for this was piano driven and a laid back version. Of all the Wilburys, Damien mentioned Jeff Lynne's / ELO's were the only ones he hadn't previously sung while he'd been singing the others for years. Lynne was the one who with his various roles in the group brought the Wilburys together, he considered, and he went for a very different sound to the original as a way of approaching Can't Get It Out of My Head Then they discussed working with Barbra Orbison and how hers was the biggest endorsement ever with all the support she gave him over the Roy album, and how active she was in setting up the production of that album. Being such a private person he had never realised how sick she had been last year, though he had sensed something had been wrong. Beautiful 2012 was then mentioned as the first single and a couple more songs played before the hour was up. To finish, Mardi said everyone will be hearing the new single Beautiful played on 2CH Then at the very end there was a promo for their Mother's Day Luncheon Comp with Damien starting on Monday (see other thread in Appearances) & then another promo for this coming weekend - their Originals & Remakes Weekend with Damien's "Here Comes the Sun" as the background music while mentioning the comp above where you can Win a copy of NOW & THEN! They've got behind Damien & the album so much!!!

;D I have been out, but I excused myself and went and sat in the car for an hour to listen to it.
It was a fabulous interview/hour. Damien is very natural in these interviews and he seems so much at ease answering the questions even though he has answered some of them a number of times.
I am pleased that he keeps mentioning Estee Lauder in respect to Beautiful. There must be a huge number of people who liked the ad and song but had no idea who the singer was.

Thoroughly agree Braffy. I can't believe that I forgot to tune in via the link... call it 'oldtimers'!!! We started watching a DVD and it completely skipped my mind Anyway, thanks to Shims and her wonderful post, I can 'read' it instead. It must have been one of the most wonderful D interviews, especially with all the songs played - they must love Damien up there Thank you Shims. Hope lots of other people got to hear it too.

Thanks Shims for the report. Sounds like great promo for the album. Pity only one original was played though. Have to mention that because Leah is my fave Orbison song I'm really glad D has put it on this album, ( although I would have loved it on Roy.) It's lovely to have it recorded at last, complete with harmonies.

It WAS a great interview and Trilly there were 2 originals ;D OK, true.. but only one new one, out of six. It irks me seeing this album talked about as "another covers album" only, in some circles, when it is half composed of D's own songs!

Yeah, I know what you mean Trilly, it's the originals that are the standouts... ALL of them, but we each have our favs.
I emailed a Herald Sun music columnist today telling him he should listen to D's originals on Now and Then. He was commenting in his column about the moral of some lyrics in modern songs, so I thought it an ideal opportunity to tell him aboud D's wholesome good work, and wonderful vocals.
