No idle moments for Damien Leith
Sam Kelton
HE'S gone from being Australian Idol winner to Dancing with the Stars and Damien Leith admits he could have never predicted this "winner's journey".
"Not at all," he says.
"I've had my ups and downs and there were times when I didn't really know what was going to happen.
"But I'm really grateful for how things have gone and there have certainly been no regrets."
Back with a new album called Now and Then featuring six originals and seven cover songs, Leith says the album gave him the chance to reflect on the music he loved when he started performing after Australian Idol.
"I've been performing these songs for many years, so it's nice to let people hear them on an album," he said.
"They were just so much fun to record. I mean, who doesn't love singing the Travelling Wilburys or Tom Petty?"
The affable singer has just announced an Adelaide concert at Her Majesty's Theatre on Thursday, September 6. Unfortunately Leith says the fantastic dance routines he learned from his time on Dancing With the Stars haven't stayed with him.
"Well I'm certainly holding myself on stage and my posture is better," he laughs. "The fitness has gone down a bit so it's unlikely that you'll see the foxtrot or anything, but I might throw in the cha cha for a bit of a laugh.
"Who knows - I'd love to go back to it one day."

with the coloured photo holding the guitar and with a checked shirt.
In the paper, the photo was a 'walking holding a guitar case' in the gray coat, which I think was from Nashville when recording Roy. Anyway, it was nearly the whole page in size
