Hey guys  As you know by now, Winter cant help but bring teh pretty, even if it means spending outrageous sums on trashy mags that demolish her precious brain cells.... So, now that Winter has scanned and brought it, the aforementioned trashy mags are destined for the recycler...or the local doctors surgery My question is...for all youse that like to collect and keep...does anyone want the D articles, pics, posters and pretteh in general? I wouldnt be sending you the whole mag (I'm not MADE of money you know  ), but whoever hollers and is willing to trust their postal address to me may have the tear outs from 2 months worth of obsession... |

*idea* should we arrange the clippings somehow and auction them for the Damien Bday scheme? Or should we do the same and send them to Damien and Eileen as a pressie?

What do people think of this idea..? ....send the originals to Damien and Eils for Damien's birthday in a nice scrapbook, and in the meantime create a DVD scrapbook of scanned articles and media interviews....and sell a very limited number of them on ebay 9-10 days before his birthday(5 day auction). .."For the ultimate Damien Leith fan"... Kind of like...a compilation of "Since the Opera House" events, as it were?... (I assume there wouldn't be a problem with public domain interviews being used, if we obtained permission from the posters, explaining the charity cause?) I am happy to offer my services to sell them on ebay, too, if no one else has volunteered. I can use HTML to create a nice auction page for it, too. (I'm only a klutz around this new movie type stuff...ebay I know:) So what do you all think?...Am I right off the wall here? |

Just wondering how we can organise this...
Ok, how about if all of us who are in regional centres, different captial cities, etc, make a point of cutting any clippings of stories in our local newspapers and sending them to....Winterlong? are you the one we should send them to?
In the meantime, is there any one of us who is super at doing graphics and has the knowhow to put together a DVD of scans, videos, etc...if we sent them stuff as we found them? For example, I would be happy to send a CD with copies of my original (not resized) pics and videos from Robina if they were wanted.....
Should we post a seperate thread asking people to collect and send stuff, perhaps, and keep it bumped up?
Also...other things we could auction on ebay to raise money for the birthday charity could be things like an original signed large promotional poster, or signed glossys, or something unusual like that...what do people think about asking Damien or his manager (perhaps the Manager might even like it and assist us because Damien handing over funds we have raised to his favourite charity is a really positive news story as well...particularly if we do well and raise a fair bit so he can do an official "handover"!)
Remember how much that signed and framed poster of Damo went for after Idol? get the idea???
I am happy to donate my time to doing as many ebay listings of items as needed, because I usually take a break over Christmas anyway. (very quiet in terms of collectables). Only...if we wanted to get a momentum going and have outcomes before his birthday, I should ideally have the items ASAP...as in, before Christmas.
What do you all think about these ideas? If you all like it....Dede, are you the one who has the contact with Damien's manager to run it past him? Or should we just talk directly to Damien and Eils?.... Or do both?

Well I know how to make a dvd with vids and stuff that's not too hard and you could make a slide show of pics and that. That wouldn't really work for mag articles as they wouldn't be big enough to read but I'm sure they could go on some other way.
You're only putting on the positive articles aren't you because I'm sure some of the stuff in the media Damien doesn't want to read. But are you giving it to Damien or his family or just auctioning it?

I kind of liked dede's idea..to send them to D's parents if they dont already have them....
I would have thought D and Eils would already have them as they are Australian based...and had access to all the magazines!
And I should point out that my collection is not complete or definitive at all...its just the magazines that you see in the stuff I have posted!
I would be happy to pass on my clippings to someone who could send them either to proud parents or D and Eils..
As far as a digital version...it should be all here for the taking on this site...everything I bought I posted here in the Media section!
I wish I could help with the idea..its the kind of thing I like to do...but I have no time to devote to this! Sorry!
Just enough time to tear out these articles and ship them to someone ;D

Hey I was wondering can we make a thread that lists Damien's cd's etc and add to it everytime there is something new. So that like since we have been with him from the beginning people who want to (like me ;D) can make sure to not miss out and buy stuff to collect. You know it's like when your a fan of someone and you want to collect all records, books etc and they are hard to find because they are usually established for years by the time you say hey I love them I want to get everything on them it's so hard to find (because you are starting years later and stuff gets out of print etc). Am I rambling on haha sorry but you know what I mean. |
