We had a great night at The Clarendon last night, Damien sang quite a few new songs, Glawz has the set lust, I started one but half way through the show was lucky enough to be shifted up the front (thanks MrG) I really enjoyed listening to Chris Rose, he has a great voice and I liked his style, he and Damien even did a song they wrote together. Damien did a couple of special requests for 2 who were celebrating special occasions, it was lovely. We got to have a quick chat after the show, I gave Damien the picture I made for his mam, he was thrilled by it and kept asking how do you do it? He even held it up for everyone who was around to see another great show

Wow, Damien once again did not disappoint! He has the ability to engage the whole audience, who were pretty appreciative, good mix. Still he'd just have to stand there and I'd be happy!! Firstly Chris Rose - what a great voice, was happy to learn about his talent. He writes songs as well and did a mix of his own and covers. He said to me afterwards that a lot of the covers he does are the same as some of Damiens! He did :- Better be home soon Nowhere land (original) Don't look back in anger Perfect Melody (original) Take it slow (original) Better be home soon Falling (original) CREEP!!!!! (SAID HE HAD CLEARED IT WITH DAMIEN) and did a great job. He did a great job of all songs actually, look for him on FB or iTunes. His originals were great, watch out for more of him. Now to our special man: It was an 'unusual' set list but also a refreshing variety. Unfortunately he had a cold and was dosed up on Codral, his lower register and 'tenor' register were superb, but he recognised that his falsetto was difficult and at times changed the melody to compensate. Having said that, for somebody struggling with a head cold, he was extremely brave with the songs chosen, and the crowd loved it! You'll see why when you read the set list. All in all a fantastic job and I don't think anybody cared when he fluffed the start of one song and laughed, then started again!! (with an 'I told you so" or something similar. Funny, entertaining, entrancing, pure Damien Night of my Life Only the Lonely Faith in me (new song written with Joe Melson) - great If tomorrow never comes Sky/Easy/Sky Rocky road to Dublin Diddly diddly song (don't know what it's called) Talked about Randy Sandy 7 Drunken nights Danny Boy (with comment about 3 ladies who did not like it but he'd sing it anyway)!!! Tenterfield Saddler To make you feel my love (Dylan) You Got it Beautiful Always on my mind - new original written and duet with Chris Rose Wouldn't change a thing Everybody's talking (with usual audience participation) Leah - A Capella Nessan Dorma - A Capella (the audience had to sing the orchestra part in the middle, haha) Crying Encore: Stronger than Superman Pretty woman (request from lady on our table having a birthday) She told me she had seen him on the stairs and asked for it and I'm pretty sure she thought he had forgotten about her, but in true Damien form, he remembered her name and wished her a happy birthday. Hallelujah Phew!! Sure worth the trip up here, especially because we are in for lean times show wise down south unfortunately. Mr G loved it too. He and I had the front seats, could have touched Damien but restrained myself remarkably!! The tables ran lengthways away from the stage and we were front, when I turned to watch the show (to avoid a stiff neck) my knees were touching the stage. Kazza was in front too, the other side of me. Princey and her DH were back a way, and MrG swapped with her half way through so she could have front for a while. Pretty much all I have to say except DAMIEN, YOU'RE AWESOME!!!

Fantastic report Glawz. How nice of Mr G to bring Princey forward. The song list sounds really terrific and a great variety. What a shame Damien wasn't feeling too good but like a trouper he still performed well. I'm glad you liked Chris Rose. I've seen him twice now and I am sure he has a future ahead of him. He was co writing with Damien when I first saw him. Thanks for the great reports.
