Thank you for all the lovely well wishes! It was a fantastic night and, like Damien tweeted later, a really happy vibe in the room. Everyone got into it and was singing along, and big standing ovation by the whole room at the end which ended up with everyone clapping and bopping along to "Going Home".
Will start at the beginning and Chris Rose was a great surprise as support act and a really talented young guy. He did a lot of originals including his single and also did covers of Fall At Your Feet and Creep. Have seen him on Damien's FB page during the week as they have been working together so will be really interesting to see what they've been working on. He comes from Port Macquarie and said onstage he was honoured and excited to be supporting Damien tonight. Have a little pic over in the gallery.
Then to teh main show!
It was fantastic to be up close to the stage this show and also see lots of support right across the front of the room for Damien with 2Damienfans, Braffy, our friends and family and the group from Special Olympics. The room as a whole was right into the show and really appreciative.
I just adored the solo show a couple of weeks back and it was great also tonight to see the whole band getting into it with Damien. I really like both style shows as it allows for different sets and moods and ideas, and really they are just totally different (and great!) experiences.
With the sound I can only speak for our group but we all thought it sounded great in our seats and had no trouble hearing Damien, thought the sound mix with band/vocal was spot on. Maybe it was just some sort of bubble in the sound where you were Braffy.
Thanks Braffy for the setlist! There were a lot of highlights! I love Unless You Say So as the opening and I think it's one of the big highlights of the whole show, just love it as a song in itself and also in the way the guys perform it.
I'll Be Your Baby Tonight is another big favourite, has that laid back end of the night atmosphere and so smooth and easy. Love it!
Funny moment when Eric started off into Rocky Road to Dublin which I don't think Damien was going to do and then Damien asked the audience Did we want to hear this song even though we don't know what it's going to be?? lol Yeah sure, why not? Amazing feat to remember all the words and then Damien did like at Lizottes and launched into the Diddly Dee song, was so funny. Of course Eric had to have a say
Damien was telling the story of all the band having babies since last time - except Eric, who nevertheless piped in with his addition to the family, Poppi the kitten Diana has tweeted pics of Poppi, just gorgeous
It's been so intriguing that at every show I've been to when Damien asks for requests they've been asking for 22 Steps! Funny how that is happening across different audiences in totally different locations! I'm glad they have been though as he's doing a great acoustic version each time, love hearing that again as well as Night of My Life.
Was really exciting that Damien decided off the cuff to add in Stronger than Superman - the new original he debuted at Lizottes! Beautiful beautiful song!
By the encore the place was jumping as always with Pretty Woman but then midway Eric threw in a bit of... WHOLE LOTTA LOVE - Baby, I'm not foolin'!! I just about jumped through the ceiling so excited and it sounded AMAZING!!!! I askedbegged Damien afterwards to please sing it some time with Eric playing it, I really hope he does, together they would kill it!
Hallelujah was just spellbinding and a beautiful end to the show. What a great night. Of course for our family this was a very bittersweet night also, but we all had a beautiful time and held the past memories close to our hearts also.
Was really lovely to see so many people lining up at the end to see Damien saying what a fantastic night they had, so many happy faces. Nice to see you and your sis again Braffy and great also to spend some time tonight with the lovely 2Damienfans who will probably be posting also.
Thank you Damien and all the guys for bringing all the magic to the room!!
Hope all the other shows go great for you Damien and that many others will have the chance to see you. Thank you for giving it your all each and every show, being so generous with your time and being so good to us all - it's been a wonderful tour
