Damien Leith has left his long-time record label Sony Music.
Following on from his triumph on 'Australian Idol' back in 2006, Damien has released five studio albums with Sony, along with the live 'Winner's Journey' release off the back of the competition. But most of his releases have been covers compilations, with collections of originals two and far between. Damien's last original album was 2009's criminally overlooked 'Remember June'.
So he's jumped ship from the major label and inked a new deal with up and coming indie label Social Family Records.
"After seven great years with Sony music, it's time for a new chapter and I'm so excited to be taking that leap with the fantastic team at Social Family Records," Damien said in a statement. "This will be my first independent album release and will feature all original songs I've written about love, life and everything in between. I can't wait for everyone to hear it."
The as-yet-untitled LP will be released on Friday November 01, with pre-orders beginning in September.
And to celebrate its release, Damien will play two very special launch shows in September; one each in Sydney and Melbourne. The shows will be fans' first chance to discover some of his new material ahead of the album release. Tickets for both are on sale now.

Today, I am gonna talk about really successful Aussie guy. As a person, I love to support Australian singers, Dj and artists. However, Damien doesn't need that. His voice includes his success indeed. Here are general informations about him for Aussietrend readers:
Multi-platinum singer / songwriter Damien Leith will release a brand new album of original music with Social Family Records on 1st November this year. The acoustic pop and folk release represents an exciting new direction for the Australian Idol. Two years in the making, the album will be Damien’s seventh since 2006 and his first with the independent Sydney-based label.
"After seven great years with Sony music, it's time for a new chapter and I'm so excited to be taking that leap with the fantastic team at Social Family Records. This will be my first independent album release and will feature all original songs I've written about love, life and everything in between. I can't wait for everyone to hear it," said Damien.
The Irish-born Australian citizen will preview the new album at two intimate acoustic gigs in Sydney and Melbourne on 20th and 21st September, with tickets now on sale. The as-yet untitled album will feature two songs co-written by legendary Nashville-based songwriter Joe Melson famed for penning a string of rhythm and blues hits with the one and only Roy Orbison, including Only The Lonely, Crying and Running Scared. It will be Damien’s first all original album since his 2009 release,Remember June.

We believe his new album embodies some of his best work to date, both as a songwriter, musician and the new hat of producer. Since being crowned Australian Idol in 2006, Damien has enjoyed the most remarkable of music careers, becoming one of the best-selling Australian artists of the modern era, with combined album sales nudging the one million mark. His 2006 debut album The Winner's Journey, reached number one in Australia and went four times platinum, winning an ARIA Award for highest selling album. Four other Top 20 albums followed, including last year’s release Now & Then featuring the original single Beautiful, picked up by Estee Lauder in America as the soundtrack to their TV advertising campaign.
The new album will be available to pre-order from 9th September and released on 1st November via iTunes and all good retailers.
