Damien Leith plays an intimate preview of his new album at The Vanguard

Damien Leith will be playing a stripped-back, soul bearing and intimate preview of his new album at The Vanguard this September.
The Irish songwriter shot to fame in 2006 after winning Pop Idol, but he has gone back to his acoustic, folk roots with the recording of his first independent album, Chapter Seven.
The singer has been recording his new material in Marrickville and said he cannot wait to share his music with the Inner West.
"This show is going to be really exciting for us because we get to play the new songs live for the first time and people get to hear brand new songs."
Leith said that playing acoustic music, with harmonies and traditional instruments came naturally to him during the recording process.
"This album has a really big sound," Leith said. "People who know me, know that this is the type of music that I want to make and I love it because it's so rewarding to play.
"We have a whole range of sounds on the album, there are even some traditional Irish folk influences and instruments on there."
Leith said that he prefers playing an intimate acoustic show than a large venue.
"I actually love this type of performance because you're in control of everything that happens and you feel so close to the audience. You can hear every word the people in the front row are saying."
Chapter Seven is out on November 1 and the new single Without a Fight is out now.
