From Idol to Chapter Seven with Damien Leith

In 2006, newly crowned Australian Idol winner Damien Leith was having, to quote his winner's song, the "Night of My Life".
The Irish troubadour had won over legions of Australian fans on the reality television program and he was selling multi-platinum albums on a major record deal.
"Back when I was on Idol there wasn't as much competition - now you've got X Factor, Australia's Got Talent and The Voice.
"The talent is still fantastic and the audience is still getting behind people in a big way but, unfortunately when a show ends another one comes on straight away so people don't have to continue supporting the one act so they can move on to the next thing," Leith told Leon Compton the ABC Statewide Mornings program.
Seven years and now, seven albums later; Leith is heading in a new direction.
In a music studio he built himself, the singer songwriter, has recorded his new album Chapter Seven under his own independent label which features twelve new original songs.
"It was a big decision for me six or seven months ago to go independent and I got stuck into it.
"It was a brilliant process, it was really inspiring and it got me back into the swing of writing and producing," said Leith.
Leith will be performing at the Launceston Country Club on November 22nd and Wrest Point Casino on November 23.
