Thanks Braffy....Maggiemay was with myself and friends and Hyp and Hypermum were upstairs. Saw a few gym friends there as they had 2 for 1 seats (to fill the place) and another teacher I'd worked with...they all seemed to have a great time too.
Big surprise
the show started at 8:30pm and it was Eric and Damien
Crowd was initially very appreciative with clapping and worked their way up to clapping, singing and cheering by the end.
Damien wore charcoal jeans, charcoal and white striped top and his nice brown shoes ohhh yes and the cap.....
Started the night with
* Beautiful and talked about his recent visit to Ireland and how his accent had an Irish refresher
now we probably couldn't understand him. Next the new single
* Halfway Heart then talked about lame excuses for staying over at the end of the night and
* A Million Reasons. Then talked about the collaboration with the late Barbara Orbison and happened to mention his pole dancing episode at Lizottes...but now the pole is blocked off by speakers and we had
* Crying and then
* Lonely Nights and the attempts to sing by the audience "so close and yet so far away" but according to Eric "the right notes, but wrong timing"
Then we were introduced to the machine with 30 voices that was recorded in Damien's studio
* Never Forget then we had the sequel to Crying
* I Can Stop You Crying and then a singalong with
* Only the Lonely and Eric went for some cake
* Have I Told You Lately That I Love You and a request for
* Creep, then Eric returned and a couple of us requested I Still Miss Us, so he attempted and delivered some of
* I Still Miss Us I then gave him a gift for that song with a note that said to the talented, handsome, wonderful Damien Leith come swim with me through life's great ocean
(yes....it's a fish)
* Nessun Dorma followed by
* Last Sad Song and
* Everywhere You Go with a couple of lines of Brick in the Wall, then a request from earlier
* Hallelujah with Sleepwalker and
* Without a Fight and a little of Light My Fire with audience help...they then left and Damien came back alone to sing
* Stronger Than Superman and a request for
* 22 Steps with the story of unrequited love and stalking (but this was instead of Danny Boy....which received a few loud NOs). Then Eric was back for
* Pretty Woman and some extra special guitar playing by Eric....must say Damien had a giggle when he was doing the grrrrr part
The audience were having a terrific time and Damien was only able to leave because he and Eric were coming out to meet, sign and be photographed.
Meant to say too that someone had mentioned their birthday on FB and there was a rousing rendition of Happy birthday during the show.
Thank you again for the wonderful show and all the time you give at the end, especially as you were thinking of driving back to Sydney.
Was talking with my friend Marcia after the show and she was saying what a wonderful wordsmith Damien is as she loves his lyrics....also enjoyed both his novels. His next novel will be a children's book. Looking forward to that too.
