Here is the article
Where did you land? Damien Leith Sep 23, 2014 Where did you land?
One of my first albums was titled ‘Where we Land’, I named it that because I always said, ‘Our home will be where ever we land’. That’s even how I came to live in Australia – I was travelling with my wife through India and Nepal and by the time we landed in Australia we were exhausted and needed a break. Eleven years later we’re still here. Honestly when I was younger I never in my wildest dreams thought that I’d end up living on the other side of the world from Ireland but there you go, things happen for a reason.
Lately as our family gets bigger and bolder, we are starting to wonder where we’ll land next? My two boys, Jarvis (9) and Jagger (7) are very active kids and our daughter Kikki (3) is fast on their heels – I’m starting to feel that there is a need for more space, to move away from city living and let them stretch their legs and to be outdoors more – perhaps it’s time for a sea or a tree change.
We’ve fairly much spent the past year convincing ourselves out of making another move for lots of different reasons – schools, friends, Sydney life and lets face it, being comfortable and the fear of the unknown. The truth of the matter is though, every time we get out of the city for a few days and see how much fun the kids have when they’ve got more space to explore – we come back with the same question, should we move?
I think it’s fascinating hearing about how people ended up where they are living. How about you, how did you come to be ‘where you landed?’ Do you love it and was it the right move?
Thanks Spud for the picture.
